Well it is official now: Brett Favre is a Minnesota Viking. I'm not going to go into tremendous detail about how the whirlwind events of the day unfolded. I'm just going to give a few observations from what I saw and heard throughout the day and what to expect from Brett Favre and the Vikings this season.
1. From the little video I saw of practice, Favre looked decent. Obviously, he has not had a lot of practice and no practice with NFL players, but he looked okay. It always helps when you are fairly familiar with the system and the terminology that a new team has. Brett Favre knows the Vikings version of the West Coast offense and it will just take a little time getting used to and adjusting to the wide receivers routes and working with the players. Brett Favre will have this offense down easily by the time the regular season kicks off for the Vikings in Cleveland.
2. Favre gave very good answers, I thought during his press conference today. Obviously, this is a guy who just really loves the game of football and can't give it up. Either he is a really good actor, or he was very emotional at times and that I think will go a long way into some Vikings fans softening up to him as a Viking and welcoming him on the team. His soundbite about his ten-year-old daughter was probably the most memorable thing Brett said during the press conference.
3. From a fantasy perspective, and even just a general football stance, almost every single offensive player benefits from Brett Favre except for obviously Sage Rosenfels and Tavaris Jackson. Adrian Peterson will see fewer 8-man fronts, Visanthe Shaincoe will see more balls thrown his way because Favre likes the tight end, and more one-on-one coverage will be a welcome sight for Bernard Berrian, who can use his speed to get down the sidelines and create some big plays for the Vikings offense.
4. Barring injury, I think we can expect Brett Favre to have a good season for the purple and gold. He will be asked to be a game manager. This will be a new role for him, but with his age and ability, I think this is a new role he will accept with open arms. The Vikings have the most weapons Favre has gotten to work with in a long time, and that can only excite him and help him have a great season.
5. The Vikings should finish 12-4 at least. Anything worse will be a disappointment. They instantly became a Super Bowl contender with the signing of Brett Favre. With their defense, ground game, and now a solid, proven quarterback, the Vikings are on their way to a possible very magical season.

If he wins everything will be just fine ..... and like you I think he makes the Vikings a better team.

favre should make them a better team.... don't question that, but an instant super bowl contender and 12-4 at least? just due to favre?? that's a huge stretch by just adding him. it's questionable if the guy can make it a full season and in big games his last yrs w/ GBay, he looked horrible. made mistakes/throws that were just plain bad. personally, i think the guy is a media h*** and i wish he'd just move to the moon. i used to like vikes, but will likely be rooting for any team they play just because of favre. like so many.... i'm sick of the guy and hate the fact that we will have to listen to all this next off season. it's sad what he's done to his legacy.

If you think the Vikings will win with Favre you are wrong. Help? Not so sure..they did well last year but I just dont see them going anywhere under the new washed out Favre.
