College is for the kids. Basketball is just a game. College basketball is still just a game played by kids. However, there is a dark side to College Ball. A political-esque corruption, if you will. Its run by the suit on the sideline. Or in the pressbox. With the greasy hair and nice car. The Smooth Talker. The Rick Pitino. The John Calipari. C'mon, you know what I'm talking about.

There was always this sort of, aura about Pitino and Calipari. They're both damn good coaches. They can *recruit,* win, and build programs. But, everytime I see one of them I can help but think of a violation here, a violation there. And then this summer came along. Now we have a sex scandal in Lousiville and a recruiting violation in Memphis. Now, I dont think Coach Cal really has a care in the world about the latter. Yes, hes going to have to give up his 38 wins (given Memphis doesnt win the appeal) but hes moved on. Oh has he moved on. He moved right in to the Bluegrass state to coach the historic-filled basketball pastime of the University of Kentucky Wildcats. When Calipari was named head coach back in April, I, as a college basketball fan, was absolutely pumped for the in-state rivalry. Kentucky v. Louisville. Wildcats v. Cardinals. Calipari v. Pitino.

However, it seems like they have taken their competition off the hardwood for the offseason. Now I guess they want to see who can get more publicity after a sex scandal or violation. We all know the Pitino story now better than the Brett Favre dilemma, but people will still be talking about that when the season rolls around.

I would like to say that I do agree with the President of Louisville with sticking by Pitino. Well, they do need him and he is a helluva coach. He made a public statement and they have "moved on." Pitino is still gonna bring 30+ win seasons and Big East Championships and Tournament runs. Now he actually has some competition with the Calipari hiring and Bluegrass basketball has some quality excitement.

All because of a couple, grease-haired wearing suits screaming at the official, violating another rule, smashing another **** in a restraunt. Welcome to College Basketball, the Darkside.
