The yankees are playing reall well right now, and are putting themselves in serious contention which would mean they are now buyers at the trade deadline. The thing they need most though is a 5th starter, kei igawa just wont cut it and if the yanks want to continue this run it cant be with him in the rotation. The truth is though the trading deadline will be usless for the yanks because they already have the arm they need loading up in scranton for two more starts. Phil Hughes is almost ready to be the savior that he has been tagged from the time the yankees selected him. Now they will be able be confident every fifth day when his time comes along as opposed to when igawa starts.
The red sox and indians should be really concerned the yanks are playing with a passion and a purpose and when the rotation comes along as Wang, Pettite, Clemens, Mussina, and Hughes everyone should be scared. That is a serious rotation that rivals any in the league. The lineup is coming along, and with the bottom of the lineup providing the youth and energy the yanks arent sitting around anymore for the big homerun.
The yanks are rolling right now but i still have two complaints. 1. When is torre going to realize that damon just cant hit the ball anymore. hitting the ball out of the infield has become reason for celbration for damon these days, i cant remember the last time hes actually hit a ball hard fair or foul. So its time to take him out of the lineup and have Melky be our trendsetter with his energy. 2. Another thing torre must conclude is Farnsworth sucks. there is no reason he should be the gap to Mo in the 8th inning. He just cant get the job done. Vizcaino should be moved from the 7th inning guy to the 8th and have a platoon of Villone Myers Proctor and Bruney pitch the 7th.
Yes Boston that is the yankees knocking on the door.
