I read an article recently about Anderson Silva's and Roy Jones Jr's planned boxing match.

I know it's a boxing site but wow those are some delusional writers over there. The fight to save MMA? Shirley you can't be serious.
The article should have been called the fight to save boxing. MMA's popularity has surpassed boxing in recent years.
Many people in my age group (I'm 24) tend to be addicted to MMA, and only a few people still follow boxing extensivly.
This site further confirms it due to not many people commenting on or accepting boxing tds. Luckily there are a few fans like Chosen1, Tubtoy, Boxing4life, who make in entertaining. But the difference between the hype of boxing now vs during the Tyson era is puzzling.
I think there are several fighters now including either klitsko who would destroy Tyson. But MMA grows while boxing regresses. I would love to talk about young prospects like Andre Berto but I'm afraid most of fannation wouldn't know what I was talking about.
I follow both sports but many people tend to follow just one or the other. Silva has destroyed all the best fighters in MMA, if he gets destroyed by a past his prime boxer like Jones, boxing just might become relevant again.
Yes MMA is different and Jones would have no chance of beating Silva in a sport where BJJ is allowed. But knockouts sell fights, a vicious ko of possibly the best mma fighter ever would reintroduce what made the sport so popular back when hagler/hearns fought or more recently the Tyson era.
I love watching both Jones and Silva both are great fighters, but I want Jones to win so boxing can regain it's long lost swagger.
