On the eve of the first regular season game, no less.  Basic seeding, division winners, playoff predictions, all here.

I should probably change my AFC West standings, because Jeff Garcia was cut from the Raiders, but I will not.  I have faith in Russell, oddly enough.  It won't pay off, especially considering that there is no real competition to him now.

AFC North                                                                   AFC West

1. Pittsburgh Steelers                                                   1. San Diego Chargers

2. Baltimore Ravens (Wildcard)                                       2. Oakland Raiders

3. Cincinnati Bengals                                                    3. Kansas City Chiefs

4. Cleveland Browns                                                     4. Denver Broncos

AFC South                                                                  AFC East

1. Indianapolis Colts                                                     1. New York Jets

2. Houston Texans                                                       2. New England Patriots (Wildcard)

3. Tennessee Titans                                                     3. Miami Dolphins

4. Jacksonville Jaguars                                                  4. Buffalo Bills

The AFC South and East will be tough divisions, no doubt about it.  The Texans will be led by a young offense, but if Schaub goes down at any point in the year, they could be in trouble.  I have the Jets over the Patriots because of the Patriots loss of a lot of their starting defense.  Richard Seymour was a rock, but now he has gone to the Raiders, where everyone goes to end their careers.  I hope the best for Seymour, and I will be surprised if he shows up at Raiders camp.  He will be taken by someone next year in free agency, I am sure.  The patriots defense is nothing now.  If it weren't for their offense, they would be in 3rd behind the Fins.   For the other two divisions, see the posts I wrote on them.  Cassel could be out for a bit with the Chiefs, but Thigpen did decent last year, and I had them opening the first four weeks 0-4 anyway. On to the NFC...

NFC North                                                                   NFC West

1. Green Bay Packers                                                    1. Arizona Cardinals

2. Minnesota Vikings (Wildcard)                                       2. Seattle Seahawks

3. Chicago Bears                                                          3. San Francisco 49ers

4. Detroit Lions                                                             4. St. Louis Rams

NFC South                                                                   NFC East

1. Atlanta Falcons                                                         1. New York Giants

2. Carolina Panthers (Wildcard)                                        2. Philadelphia Eagles

3. New Orleans Saints                                                    3. Dallas Cowboys

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers                                               4. Washington Redskins

A quick word on the NFC.  Packers have every piece of the puzzle, including a defense led by Dom Capers.  Their new coordinator moved them to the 3-4, and they will do well.  Vikings, if they use Brett Favre carefully, will nab the wildcard.  The Eagles will split their series with the Cowboys, letting the Panthers sneak in and grab the second wildcard, who will sweep the Saints in two shootouts.  It pains me not to send the Saints and Drew Brees to the playoffs, but they just aren't good enough.  The Cardinals will go as well.

Dear Bears fans: Sorry, but Cutler isn't going to lead you to the playoffs this year.  He will do well, but not as well as last year, when he had talent at WR.  Give him someone to throw to besides Matt Forte and Hester.

 AFC SEEDS                                                               NFC SEEDS

1. Pittsburgh Steelers                                                  1. New York Giants

2.  New York Jets                                                        2. Green Bay Packers

3. Indianapolis Colts                                                     3. Atlanta Falcons

4. San Diego Chargers                                                  4. Arizona Cardinals

5. Baltimore Ravens                                                     5. Minnesota Vikings

6. New England Patriots                                               6. Carolina Panthers

AFC WILD CARD PLAYOFFS                                      NFC WILD CARD PLAYOFFS

Indianapolis Colts over New England Patriots            Atlanta Falcons over Carolina Panthers

Baltimore Ravens over San Diego Chargers               Minnesota Vikings over Arizona Cardinals

AFC DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS                                    NFC DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS

Baltimore Ravens over Pittsburgh Steelers                New York Giants over Minnesota Vikings

New York Jets over Indianapolis Colts                     Green Bay Packers over Atlanta Falcons

AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME                                     NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Baltimore Ravens over New York Jets                       Green Bay Packers over New York Giants

                                          SUPER BOWL XLIV

Baltimore Ravens 26, Green Bay Packer 27

The Ravens will score a touchdown in the final minute, only for Steven Hauschka, a second year kicker, to miss the PAT.

Green Bay wins the Super Bowl!
