So here we are.  The later half of 2007 and it feels like it's 1994 all over again.  It's the O.J Simpson spectacle all over again.  All eyes were on another NFL superstar accused of a heinous crime against humanity.  I am the first to admit that I do not hold the life of a dog in the same realm as a human, but holy crap what a shitstorm the past couple of days have been and i can't tell you how sickened I am by the unconscionable vulgarity that several living beings had to go though.

Michael Vick has already been found guilty.  Regardless of wether he is responsible for the amazingly f@cked up, digusting crimes alleged in the indictment, he is guilty.  Guilty of being one of the faces of the NFL, Americas sport.  Guilty of associating with total ****.  Apparently in this country that is enough to burn him in effigy with all the pent up anger and frustrations that our country has gone through since 9/11.  Before this, the only other story coming out of the NFL with this sort of impact was Rae Caruth killing his wife.

It's funny how people think that the cult of celebrity have it so rich that if they break the law they can always buy their way out of it.  At the same time WE are the ones guilty of being responsible for a never ending witch hunt of trying to find the slightest thing wrong with anyone in the spotlight.  Did Vick really slam puppies against the ground?  Who knows, and it is really a moot point right now.

We are a nation of rubber neckers on our way home from work who can't help but slow down and stare at the accident on the side of the road.  Flashing police lights?  Even better.  Just know that when you slow down to see (or not see) that accident on the side of the road just know that you are causing more traffic.  I guess that America is just about due for an accident that everyone can slow down and stare at and rally around to make us all feel good about ourselves.

All we are hearing is "NFL player kills dogs for fun".  It's like the Super Bowl Sunday of righteousness.  instead of everyone having a party to go to, they all have a cause to make them feel better about themselves.
