Hello everyone. Another great week of football is closing in. Last week had some great games and this week will be no different with several marque matchups. Without further delay, let's take a look at the week to be in the NFL, Week 2 style:
Carolina @ Atlanta 1:00 ET FOX (Jake Delhomme desperately needs to play well this week to avoid a possible benching. The Panthers also need to avoid an 0-2 start. But Matt Ryan looks good and Michael Turner will want to have a much better game than the one he had last week.)
Prediction: Panthers 17 Falcons 27
Minnesota @ Detroit 1:00 ET FOX (The Lions want to end their losing streak, but don't look for it to happen this week. With Brett Favre and AP, the Vikings know how big it is to get off to a 2-0 start with both wins coming on the road, especially with the Packers looking to do the same thing. Expect them to come up with plenty of pressure against Matt Stafford.)
Predictions: Vikings 31 Lions 17
Cincinnati @ Green Bay 1:00 ET CBS (The Bengals offense needs to find a way to get going, but with the way Green Bay's 3-4 defense played last week, it might be another long day for the Bungals.
Prediction: Bengals 13 Packers 27
Arizona @ Jacksonville 1:00 ET FOX (Both teams are looking for a win to avoid starting out 0-2. For fans hoping to see this game, good luck. I think Arizona awakes from their post-Super Bowl slumber to win the game.)
Prediction: Cardinals 27 Jaguars 14
Oakland @ Kansas City 1:00 ET CBS (Both teams played surprisingly well last weekend. This is a tough game for me to pick, but I will take the Raiders because I liked the way the they played defense for most of the game and they should be able to run the ball.)
Prediction: Raiders 27 Chiefs 23
New England @ New York Jets 1:00 ET CBS (Boy there is a lot of trash-talking by the Jets isn't there?! And yet the Patriots just continue to do their thing. They have won 8 straight at the Meadowlands and until the Jets beat them, I will take the Pats.)
Prediction: Patriots 27 Jets 20
New Orleans @ Philadelphia 1:00 ET FOX (Sure the question is will Donovan McNabb play Sunday, but the bigger question is: over/under 3.5 TDs for Drew Brees? I will say under, but it won't matter.)
Prediction: Saints 31 Eagles 24
Houston @ Tennessee 1:00 ET CBS (Both teams are looking to rebound from week 1 losses, but Houston looked pathetic while the Titans were playing the Steelers. I picked the Texans to make the playoffs, but I don't have confidence in them this week.)
Prediction: Texans 17 Titans 26
St. Louis @ Washington 1:00 ET FOX (Will the Rams score any points this week? Yes, but it won't be nearly enough.)
Prediction: Rams 13 Redskins 24
Tampa Bay @ Buffalo 4:05 ET FOX (T.O. has been caught up in the news with his comments this week. Everyone will forget about it if the Bills go out and win. If not, uh-oh!)
Prediction: Bucs 17 Bills 31
Seattle @ San Francisco 4:05 ET FOX (This is an extremely tough game to pick, I can't even offer much more analysis other than both teams realistically could win. How wishy-washy.)
Prediction: Seahawks 23 49ers 20
Pittsburgh @ Chicago 4:15 ET CBS (Both teams are missing key defensive players; Brian Urlacher and Troy Polamalu. The Bears really need to win this game, otherwise their season may be going down the drain.)
Prediction: Steelers 27 Bears 13
Cleveland @ Denver 4:15 ET CBS (Both teams will not be very good over the coarse of the season, but the Broncos will come out of this game with a surprising 2-0 start.)
Prediction: Browns 16 Broncos 27
Baltimore @ San Diego 4:15 ET CBS (With L.T's status up in the air, the Chargers will rely on Darren Sproles to carry the load. The escaped from Oakland with a win, but the Ravens weren't so great themselves having a tough time with K.C. Though Joe Flacco may have a good game, I like San Diego a little more than the Ravens.)
Prediction: Ravens 24 Chargers 31
New York Giants @ Dallas 8:20 ET NBC (The new Cowboys stadium is opening up and that is almost bigger than the game itself. Both teams are 1-0 and both will be fighting the entire season for the NFC East crown, and I will probably get this one wrong, but I have more confidence in the Giants than I do the Cowboys.)
Prediction: Giants 23 Cowboys 20
Indianapolis @ Miami 8:30 ET ESPN MNF (Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne had a good rhythm Week 1 and the defense played good. The same cannot be said for the Dolphins. Look for the Colts to come out sharp and get a lead early.)
Prediction: Colts 24 Dolphins 13
Well that is all I have for tonight. I was 13-3 last week; don't feel nearly as confident this week. Regardless it should be another fantastic week of NFL action. Enjoy everyone. We'll see ya next week.
