After a very exciting Week Three which saw Tennessee give a revenge minded Florida all it could handle, (same with Texas - Texas Tech), USC fall at Washington, the same Washington that didn't win a game last year, Florida State run Top Ten BYU out its own stadium, and a 52 - 41 thriller between UGA and Arkansas, I am almost certain we are heading toward another 2007 type season. Need I mention the Virginia Tech - Nebraska thriller at "The House of Horrors" - the moniker courtesy of the college game day staff at ESPN.
Mark it down - I don't think anyone will survive this season unscathed (that includes you, Florida). Let the controversy begin, and it's not even October yet.

Notes: I always try to work in head-to-head results in my rankings, and did for the most part except for Ohio State - USC. I had to drop USC below Ohio State for the Washington loss- but should USC rebound down the road, I'll adjust accordingly...
WEEK THREE PICK RESULTS
Top Ten (+1): 9 - 2 (82%)
Best of Rest: 15 - 4 (79%)
Overall: 24 - 6 (80%)
Notes: Now that's more like it... Pretty solid weekend, sans a few upsets I picked gone wrong (and USC/ BYU losing) - but Navy and Arkansas both gave their teams fits.
OVERALL PICK RESULTS
Top Ten: 20 - 11 (65%)
Best of Rest: 29 - 10 (74%)
Overall 49 - 21 (70%)
Notes: More weeks like Week 3, on order.
1) Florida State, 54 BYU, 28. Enough said. And, it could have been a lot worse (see FSU's botched last drives/ FG). Big win for FSU and the ACC, big loss for BYU and the "vaunted" up and coming Mountain West.
2) Virginia Tech, 16 Nebraska, 15. Can't say I've ever seen a more exciting ending (except for Boston College - Virginia Tech 2007, only if you're an Eagle fan...). The problem? Tyrod does NOT look good running the offense, still. Even worse? A pretty doggone good Miami team comes to Lane Stadium next weekend. Play like they did this Saturday, and Virginia Tech will get ran out the stadium circa Miami, 2005.
3) Washington 16, USC 13. Where do you begin. This is beginning to become expected in the Pete Carroll era, see Steward Mandel PICKING THIS UPSET....
4) Oh well for the revenge induced beatdowns I expected. I for one thought Florida and Texas both looked relatively uninspired against Tennessee and Texas Tech respectively. I just knew Urban Meyer would ring 90+ points on the Vols, and Texas would try their best to wipe Texas Tech off the map. Certainly wasn't the case. Credit goes to both the Vols and Red Raiders for showing up, not playing scared on the road, and playing to WIN. More coaches should adopt this mindset... (looking at you Jim Tressel...)
5) Miami, welcome (back?) to the national title picture. Next test - Virginia Tech at the vaunted Lane Stadium. Win that, and it'll be the top ten and an ACC title awaiting you. That and, a visit from an improving Oklahoma squad.
6) No worries Nebraska - you still look like the class of the Big 12 North. But don't forget about Kansas, silently working their way up as well. Bo Pelini was a great hire and I'd bet a paycheck he'll be playing for championships in the next two years.
7) Said it before, will say it again. LSU, you are not yet a top ten team. Improve now, or prepare for another 8-5 or 9-4 season. When will the pollsters get it? I'm not that sold on Penn State either, who I feel is slightly overrated at #8 in my own poll, but a top-team vacuum really gave me no other choice. Yup, 2007, all over again.
