The Media has consistently complained about inconsitency and fairness of the BCS polls/formula. Let's look at some inconsistencies of week #3 of the AP poll.
http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings/_/week/4
Inconsistency #1
tOSU #13, Oklahoma #10, BYU #19, and USC#12. The rankings of these teams should be BYU, USC, OU, tOSU in the late teens (15-24). BYU and USC both have a good win, a bad loss and a win over a bad team. There really isn't 7 spots between these two teams. While OU's thrashing of Tulsa outweighs tOSU win over Navy.
Inconsistency #2Va Tech below Oklahoma. VT has a better win (Nebraska) and a "better loss" (Bama) with the same record.
Inconsistency #3
Houston below Oklahoma State - Houston 45 Oklahoma State 35. So when does on the field not matter?
Inconsitency #4
Miami not in the Top 5. Two wins against top 25 caliber teams. The only undefeated team with a better win than either of Miami's (GT and FSU) is Alabama (VT).
Until the AP gets the poll consistent and fair, the members of the AP should be banned from talking about the BCS.

The problem is, the BCS really only becomes relevant at season end, while the AP rankings throughout are not based simply upon games to date, rather initial preseason rankings, plus games played.
By your logic, after 1 game played, a team that wasn't even closed to being ranked should be vaulted to the top of the rankings if they happen to pull off an upset, even if nobody in their right mind believes they're the best team in the nation.

if a team pulls a major upset week 1, then they should jump way up in the polls. BYU jumped when they beat OU. FSU jumped when they beat BYU. Houston jumped after beating Oklahoma State. I just think they should be more consistent. The pollsters just don't "punish" USC like they do other schools. It is a double standard that makes all "human" polls worthless. They need to strip off the names of the schools and then "vote"

I wish they would do away with Rankings until after week #1 the preseason rankings screw everything up, I mean in all reallity not bashing Pete Carroll or USC or Ohio State but they both looked horrible in 2 games this year how you lose to an unranked team and drop only 8 places only USC knows. There are numerous schools that would not have a shot in the top 25 because of reputation schools such as USC, Texas, Alabama, and the like all good schools right now butg would they be where they are if they were not ranked in the preseason. Oaklahoma State is a great example, Michigan State another wait until they play ball then rank them.
