The biggest disappointment from 2008 for the biggest disappointment from 2006.  The Saints need Bush less and less with the emergence of Mike Bell and Pierre Thomas from last year.  Bush may be the 3rd best running back on the team.  Not too good for a 2nd pick in the draft.

The Jets won't need Gholston once Calvin Pace comes back from suspension next week.  Let's face it, Marques Murrell and Jamal Westerman are becoming better LB's than he is.  Here in lies the problem.  Vernon Gholston is not  LINEBACKER!  Reggie Bush is not a RUNNING BACK!

These guys are talented and this is why this trade should happen.  Everyone has been clamoring for a fresh start.  Reggie Bush could make a transition to WR and be the 2nd best on the Jets roster ASAP.  He proved it his rookie season when he had over 1000 receiving yards while playing running back.  he can't take the pounding on his 200 pound frame, but he is still an electrifying playmaker if he can play at a better NFL position for him, which is WR.

Vernon Gholston is athletically gifted, but he is suited to be a 4-3 pass rusher.  He will get his 10+ sacks and cause fumbles and make plays in the backfield, but only on a 4-3 defense.

Because of the salary cap numbers, and Bush's being an earlier pick than Gholston from years prior, the guaranteed money is about the same.  The NFL lifespan of a player, when combined with the salary cap means you can't hang on to guys waiting for them to pan out.  Reggie Bush was at best when playing under the bright lights of USC in front of a national audience.  He likes the media.  Vernon Gholston seemed more comfortable not being a household name and just another player on the Ohio State defensive front line.

It's time to make this trade as soon as Calvin Pace can return from suspension and shake things up some.  Roll the dice on a proven playmaker in Reggie Bush.  Someone who can take a 5 yard slant and turn it into an 80 yard catch and run. Time to stop blaming Gholston for not being a 270 pound LB when he's a pretty good DE.  LETS MAKE THIS TRADE TANNENBAUM !!!! Give the Jets "O" a bigtime playmaker.
