New to New England

It's a busy season for me at work and moving out of our apartment into a new place has definetely kept me on my toes, but I still manage to peak at the MLS standings every once-in-a-while. Major League Season is wrapping up with most teams only have a small handful of games left. Only a handful of opportunities to grab some desperately needed points to make it into the MLS cup playoffs.

If you haven't read any of my other blog posts, I'm a New England Revolution fan, and watching the standings the past coupe weeks has been a roller coaster. Just a couple weeks ago they were were 3rd in the Eastern standings and it was looking good, but then a couple key losses dropped them down back into the race. Only a couple points separate 5 or 6 teams.

Last Saturday I had the pleasure to go to Foxboro to see them take on the Seattle Sounders. I was excited to see the game. Sounders are quickly becoming my favorite team in the Western Conference and I was looking forward to watching my two favorite teams go head to head.

The first half looked pretty dismal. Sounders made a great goal that left the entire stadium scratching their heads. Even GK Matt Reis wasn't sure what happened, and that's hard to do against a GK like Reis. But luckily the Revs came out strong in the second half. Putting pressure on the Sounders that landed them a penalty kick for 1 point and a fantastic goal by Shalrie Joseph to secure the win.

DC United's loss has now given the Revs another chance into getting into the playoffs, but everything comes down to these last 3 or 4 games to see who grabs those last two slots. So I'll be a little on pins and needles until the next few games are over. And even though I tell myself I won't look at the standings to prevent getting my hopes to high, I just can't resist. I'm sad to see the season end, only have tickets for one more game. It's going to be a long summer, guess I'll have to start following American Football and Basketball in the meantime.

 Go Revs!

ps: match highlights just in case you want them. At least watch the first goal made by Sounders, that was pretty crazy how he just caught everyone in a blind spot.
