Well the Tigers lost their first game of the season in a very ugly game. They played quite possibly their worst half of football this season on offense, and their worst game of the season on defense. By halftime Arkansas had spent more time on Auburn's side of the 50 yard line than Auburn themselves had. Hat's off to Arkansas they played by far their best game of the season on defense. They were the worst rushing team in the conference before they game but their running backs gouged Auburn's defense badly. Arkansas entered the game one of the most penalized teams in the SEC, and I can only remember 1 penalty getting called on them the whole game.

The Tigers looked like they were primed for the comeback in the 2nd half though coming out and marching right down the field and scoring. They got the ball back marched down to within the 5, and proceeded to fumble. Talk about bad luck. After an Arkansas score Auburn fumbles the return. A little while later Todd gets sacked and he fumbles deep in Arkansas territory setting up another Arkansas score. All in all a bad day on offense, defense, and special teams.

I think this game must have been officiated by the same crew that did the LSU-Georgia game the week prior. Not that it had any outcome on the game at all, but the officiating in the first half was pathetic. Arkansas ran just about the same play every time they had it on third or fourth down and short. The slot reciever would run a little crossing route about six yards off the line of scrimmage and at least 4 times an Auburn linebacker was called for pass interference. Each one of the times when the play was ran in slow motion the Auburn player was hitting the Arkansas player at the same time the ball was which last I checked means they were all clean interference free hits. Each time the drives were extended. An offense as potent as Arkansas' doesn't need any help extending drives but they recieved a lot of it in the first half. This game will be a character builder for the Tigers. We will see how they respond to their first game after a loss.

Unfortunately if the defense and special teams continue to play the way they have the first five games, there will be more ugly games to come with undesirable outcomes.
