This Saturday Tech goes back on the road in Big 12 play to Lincoln to take on the once mighty Nebraska Cornhuskers. Thanks to some wonderful forward thinking moves by a now fired AD, Nebraska is not what they once were but seem to be back on track and this is a scary game for Red Raider fans. But before we look at this week, a quick recap of last week's Red Raider Game...
To say that the Red Raiders took care of business against the horrendous Kansas State Wildcats woud be an understatement. For those who were watching the LSU/FLA or other games, Tech whomped the Wildcats soundly. It was 38-0 at half and the final score was 66 - 14. Tech's backup QB Steven Sheffield (go Austin TX!) dropped the hammer on the Wildcats throwing for 490 yards and 7 touchdowns in his first start. Yes he plays for Tech, but that is still 490 yards and SEVEN touchdowns against at Big 12 opponent! That's unbelievable. Batch and Jeffers and the rest of the rushing squad put up 185 yards on the ground. The defense dominated the Wildcats allowing only 284 yards, mostly in the second half, and put up four sacks and two INTs. Basically for the first time in a long time, Tech played the game they needed to play against a lesser opponent.
So, after patting each other on the back, Tech heads back on the road for their second Big 12 road game going to Nebraska. Tech has not ever been mistaken as a good road team and this is a great opportunity for the team to prove that last year was not a fluke. Nebraska is good, but we do not know how good yet.
The Cornhuskers enter Saturday's game at 4-1 and ranked in the top 15. They very easily could be Top Ten if they'd not collapsed at the end against Virginia Tech on the road. I really thought that last year Bo Pelini would have had a better year, but this year he has his team moving exactly in the direction he was hired to take them.
Nebraska is coming off of a BIG win on Thursday night against Missouri on the road, where they roared back from a 12-0 deficit to win 27-12. That is scary because it will give the entire team confidence that they can play until the clock reads 00:00 and have a chance to win.
This game comes down to Tech's offense against Nebraska's defense and their stud D-tackle Ndamukong Suh (that's not a typo). This guy is a hoss and a dark horse candidate for the Heisman. Last week alone he had a sack, an INT, a caused fumble, thee huries and six total tackles.
The good news for Tech is that the offense seems to be back on track. Can you run the Negative Wildcat with two QBs, especially if one is a scrambler? I'll leave it to Leach to try that one out. The good news is that Lattimer, I mean Carter, will be matched up the majority of the time against Suh so that's BA Baracus against BA Baracus (unless Pelini does something smart like flip him to the other side). Tech's defense has to play an attrition game between the 30s and let their kicker try and win the game, not their offense.
This will be 'small ball' game. I'd say take the under.
Texas Tech 27
Nebraska 24

ill take nebraska....they were able to come from behind in a really crappy weather game against missouri. i dont think nebraska will cover that 10.5 pt line but i believe itll be a close game. i dont think TT is as explosive as they were last yr losing harrell and crabtree but ill agree with the score that you put up there.
