I guess the new motto for Auburn has become if you ain't cheatin, you ain't trying. I have never seen one team committ as many penalties in a two quarter stretch as Auburn did in the fouth quarter of their game against Kentucky and the first quarter of the LSU game. This team practically gift wrapped LSU's first touchdown with two or three 15 yard penalites. This kind of undiscipline will cost points against bad teams, against a good team though its a nail in the coffin. The longer this season goes on the more and more it looks like last season all over again.

The offensive line isn't blocking very well especially on blitz's. The only difference in this year and last year is that the defense is even thinner than last years model of the team so opponents are scoring at will. Auburn's offense even when playing well and firing on all cylinders gets off the field in a hurry. On three and outs its even faster. The defense actually played resonably well in my opinion. Fatigue will kill the best of defenses. They held LSU's running game in check the whole game, only giving up the long run to the freshman phenom Russel Shepard. On Shepard other ten attempts though they held him to basically 2 yards on 10 carries. Then gave up the big 69 yard sprint to pay dirt. Auburn held Charles Scott in check the entire game which was a big difference from last years performance for Scott where he was running like he was at a track meet.

Special teams again this week was anything but special. I liked the fact Coach Chiz finally put Eltorro Freeman in at a starting linebacker spot. He was flying all over the place. I only see one more sure win on Auburn's schedule and thats against an FCS opponent Furman. This team can beat Ole Miss and UGA its just a question of will they.

One bright spot for Auburn was the second team offense once finally inserted into the game moved the ball at will on LSU's second team defense, by that point the game was over though so LSU was really only out there going through the motions. Neil Caudle though looked very decisive with the ball like he knew what he wanted to do on every snap and went out there and done it. Right now Chris Todd is anything but decisive. Though he is attempting to run the ball more when plays break down. To bad he has all the running ability of an offensive lineman with two club feet.

Ole Miss is next on the schedule and they finally put it all together against Arkansas this week. Was that more of Houston Nutt wanting to stick it to the Razorbacks's for forcing him out or was that an indication that Ole Miss has turned the corner this season? Auburn will find out Saturday.
