Listening to sports radio and ESPN, I am tired of all the speculation around why Micheal Vick got into dog fighting. There are all kinds of theories and ideas.
Was it an effort to keep his hip-hop street cred?
Was this acceptable in his backwoods Southern upbringing?
As an athlete, is he addicted to violence?
And on and on and on.
My opinion is that many folks feel like they have been fooled. Micheal was suppose to be the good Vick! He was the superstar that could carry a team on his shoulders. And on and on.
Putting blame on a subculture may make you feel better, but it doesn't make what he has been involved in - whatever the extent- less wrong. And putting it on some other race or group doesn't make your race or group look any better. Truth of it is, we as humans have the capability of good and evil. Sometimes we chose good, sometimes we choose evil. For whatever reason, we make a choice.
Regardless of his race, his background, or supserstar status - Vick made a bad choice, and nothing can change that now.
