On October 31, 2009 from 5:00p.m. -8:30 pm Pac 10 football fans, USC Trojan Fans, and University of Oregon football fans saw a game of historic importance in the Pac 10.
As one sign at Autzen stadium read, "The Fall of Troy is at Hand". Duck fans may be surprised when USC recovers, but the basic fact remains, that The Oregon Ducks are head and shoulders above the Pac-10 in 2009. Remeber in 2007 when the Oregon Ducks with Dennis Dixon decisively beat USC and Mark Sanchez? The Ducks has risen to the top of the Pac 10 only 2 years ago only to be derailed by a tragic injury to quarterback Dennis Dixon and an end of season implosion that left USC the de facto conference champion. So today's ass whipping of the trojans by the white feathered ones is not an abberation. We could clearly see it comin. It has been the truth for two of the last three years. USC's conference championship in 2007 was a gift directly from the Ducks. Just because USC gets the best recruits in the Pac 10 every year does not mean that they are going to be the best football team in the conference every year. The University of Oregon Football program is making that point loud and clear. The University of Oregon is doing everything to perfection in coaching and strategizing to the great young me in their program. And they are now officially the best football team in the conference.
Now why was USC unable to give the Ducks a more competitive game? It has been a long time since USC's defense got rolled for more than 600 yards and more that 40 points. Although USC's defensive players are hightly gifted and were all highly recruited there are probalbly a sub group of egotisitcal, prima donnas among them who already think that they know it all and who don't fully appreciate the full power of putting the team above themselves. To name names: Everson Griffin, Wes Horton, Chris Gallipo, Taylor Mays, Will Harris, Michael Morgan, Malcolm Smith, Nick Perry, etc. The sauce for the duck here is that Pete's new coaching staff of Jeremy Bates, Rocky Seto, Jonathan Franklin, Ken Norton Jr. are unable to understatd or unable to teach what they need to in an appropriate time frame. This can't be Pete Carroll's fault that his new assistant coaches have failed to become an effective teaching team themselves, but he is fully responsible for ultimately correcting an underachieving roup of assistant coaches. No team coaching personnel changes would be beneficial during the 2009 season; but after this season, heads could well roll. All USC fans should be rootiong for the Oregon Ducks to win the Pac ten the they may play for the national champioship on Jan 8, 2010 or at least go to the Rose Bowl on Jan. 01, 2010. remember, What Oregon accomplishes this year benefits our entire conference! It would be great if the Ducks could put a smackdown of a Big 12 or SEC opponent.
