After two games against the Cubs, it is ALL to clear it is time to deal away some of these old dogs and rebuild for next year. Isringhausen, Rolen, Edmonds all could be dealt. And they should be. If we can get some great young prospects in exchange for our old veterans, then we should do it. It kind of sucks because all three of those guys have been HUGE contributors to the Cardinals during their dominance of the Central division. But, business is business and it's time for them to go. I say deal for youth, and pick up some free agents in the offseason. The combination of the two could make us strong next year.
Speaking of free agency, Jocketty looks like a genuis now. During the offseason, I was furious we did not keep Suppan or Weaver. But, by the basis of their season so far, he was smart in not signing them to big contracts. Neither one are long term solutions. And, neither one of them would have saved our season. Jocketty saved the Cardinals money for future purchases that make sense.
