Auburn pulls the win off against Ole Miss to become bowl eligible after missing out on the post season last year. Jevan Snead's struggles continued after a successful first drive against Auburn. After the loss of starting strong safety Zac Ethridge the Tiger defense pretty much locked down the Rebel offense the rest of the game. This game may have been the best defensive game that Auburn has played all year. Which is pretty surprising considering the lack of depth on the defense and how late in the season it is with still no off week.

The Tigers managed to find their passing game again against an Ole Miss defense that basically shut down Arkansas' Ryan Mallett the week before. Ben Tate managed to go for 100 + again. The Tigers had a lot less penalties called against them this week and that was a big factor in helping them win the game, as was finally forcing some turnovers.

Walt McFadden had a highlight real interception in the third quarter which has to be a play of the year candidate. Antonio Coleman was getting after Snead as was the rest of the defensive line. Keeping sophmore transfer Eltorro Freeman in the starting lineup has helped this defense quite a bit as he has given the d a nice shot in the arm. Losing Ethridge will hurt in the long run I think because he was one of the leaders on the D, and the last report I read said he is done for the year after suffering a neck injury.

The special teams though are still less than special as they gave up a huge kick off return in the third quarter that almost allowed Ole Miss to get back into the game. With a lot of luck this team could go 3-0 the rest of the season but I believe 2-1 is far more likely with games left against Furman, Georgia, and Alabama. I can see them winning against Furman and Georgia, but beating Alabama will be a tall order coming off a bye week though it may be possible especially with Alabama still having a tough game with LSU left and what I think will be a tougher than expected game against Mississippi State who will also be coming off of a bye week to play the Tide.
