Brad Keselowski will replace David Stremme in the No. 12 Dodge for the final three Sprint Cup races this season, Penske Racing officials announced Monday.

Keselowski is moving full time to the No. 12 car next season, but team owner Roger Penske wants Keselowski to get some seat time in the car now in preparation for the 2010 season, starting with the Dickies 500 Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway.

"These three races will provide a good base for both Brad and the team as we head into next year," Roger Penske said in a team release Monday. "Penske Racing also thanks David Stremme for his contributions to the team and we wish David the very best moving forward."

Keselowski, 25 and a native of Rochester, Mich., has competed in 12 Cup races this season, posting four top-10s. He earned his first Cup victory in the April race at Talladega.

"We all have high expectations for next season and beyond," Keselowski stated in the release. "Being able to race with the team this year will only help us as we look toward 2010."

Keselowski ranks third in the Nationwide Series standings this season, driving the No. 88 Chevy for JR Motorsports. He is the highest ranking Nationwide driver who isn't a full-time Cup competitor.

Stremme ranks 31st in the Cup standings, failing to post a top 10 in 33 races this season.

kodiak, I'd like to say I feel your pain , but I don't! LOL
I want to see how many new friends Brad makes in the last 3.

With racing these last 3 races does he lose his chance of rookie of the year next year?

November 4, 2009  11:12 AM ET

he needs to start with Kurt.... kinda messed him (and half the field) up a bit.... in Brad's defense, the 2 was already half torn up, and i think the back end gave on the right side, causing Kurt to spin.... but essentially, Brad wrecked his teammate to be......

I thought with his contract with JR motorsports he couldn't race anything but a chevy. Isn't that the reason he's not in the 88 nationwide car next year, because he is racing a Dodge next year in cup.

I know there is a max you are allowed to race in a given year before you blow your Rookie of the year Chances but I do not know how many races that is.
As for not driving anything but a Chev ... GM probley let him go on that hoping to create good will and hopefully get Brad K. back in the future.

Or with Brad leaving, there might have been a clause in his contract. Or JR. just being the nice guy he is let him out. I do think the future coming back was in the back of their minds.

November 4, 2009  03:48 PM ET

I'm not sure how many races that is, before you lose your rookie chances. It just seemed odd that the reason he isn't racing next year for JR motorsports was because of the Penske move. I think your right about wanting to end a good terms seeing how Hendrick already said he's not going to let him get to far away.
