OMG!  Look at Mr. Duerson go diss'in the NFC bEast..."tallest midget in the room"  He comes in with a respectable 5-3 record on the year but now I think he has lost his mind.  At this point I would like to call him a contrarian (sp?) as he diss's the NFC East.  Where else does he think the wildcards will come from?  The West and the South--not likely.  Wildcards will come from East and North.  To dismiss the Giants and Cowboys entirely is redonkulous.....

"What a mess the NFC East has become. Some might believe there are three playoff contenders in the bunch. I'd argue there might not even be two. By whipping the Giants last week, Philly made the first claim to legitimate division dominance -- tallest midget in the room I say -- and I don't see the Cowboys being able to prove otherwise. "

Duerson is just another critical pea headed Cowboy hater and Romo basher. Look, Romo is going to have a long career and the Cowboys are just getting into their groove. In time Romo will prove these people wrong. Romo can perform, he is still maturing mind you.

Didn't wade through all of Duerson's articles to tell if he is a hater of Dallas but was surprised that he dismissed the NFC East so readily. Wonder if he was touting the Giants when they were 5-0?

I looked up his pre season predictions. He picked the Cowboys to win the Division, the Saints to win the NFC and the Chargers to win it all. Sounds like a case of buyers remorse. I have not seen a team yet that i would put all my money on. Including the Saints.
Some of his other divison winners were the Packers, Panthers and wild card winners the Texans and BROWNS. Make of that what you will.

Opinions... the spice of life. Found his comment about the Eagles as the "tallest midget in the room" cute at best.

There will be a wild card team out of the East. The Packers will have to play lights out and I have to think their confidence has been shaken a little bit. The Falcons are good but **** have been exposed in the armor. The Niners - not certain about this year but beware next year.

The Giants have big problems in the defensive backfield, but I also believe that the Plantar Fasciitis is affecting Eli more than anyone will admit. The Cowboys just have to prove something to me before I will ever consider putting them back on any pedestal.

I would like to see the Eagles play the Saints again... maybe early in the playoffs.

Otis,
would you consider a victory tomorrow night to be adequate as proof? I would.

Guys, it's a long season. Big game tomorrow night. The Cowboys have a very good team and are starting to play together as a team. That is encouraging. DeCamillis has stopped the bleeding on ST coverage. With Buehler, they lead the league in touchbacks. Let's enjoy the season and be gracious in our success. Lord knows we take so much grief in our failures. Cowboy way!

I suspect the tie breaker rules will need to be applied for wild card spots. There could be more than two 10 win teams for the last spot. Arizona/49ers, Bears?Packers, Falcons Cowboys/Eagles. Right now the Cowboys at 4-1 have the best Conference record.
I agree a wild card will come from the NFC East. The first three tie breaker rules as follows:

# Head-to-head, if applicable.
# Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
# Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.

A victory this evening would be a very positive step forward, bud. For that matter, a good effort tonight (Win or Lose) followed by a victory next week in Green Bay against a Packers team that looks very beatable would also be a positive step.

Of course, December is where the proof we all are seeking will finally be revealed.

50, good point on the possible future bottle neck in December/January. I currently have big doubts about the 49ers and Bears......they seem to be drifting backwards. Falcons have a LOT to prove vs the Redskins today, anything less than a win and I put them with the previously mentioned teams. Giants are in a MUST win today too for psychological reasons IMHO.

Well Mr Duerson can go pound sand.

Tough fought game, but the officiating made it like watching a long painful movie....Officials sucked the life out of the game and Ried totally screwed up with his challenges.
