Dan Wetzel's blog today on Yahoo hit this right on the head. I recommend you go read it.

Why are big schools avoiding Boise State when Boise has offered to travel to any stadium in the country to play anyone who's willing? This almost reminds me of when the owner of legendary racehorse War Admiral kept refusing overtures for a match race with Seabiscuit back in the day.

Truth is, these big schools are 1. worried about getting beat, which Boise is pretty good at doing to top competition (see Oklahoma). 2. worried that Boise will jump in the BCS rankings, which could put their chances of a BCS berth at risk. 3. Afraid of a challenge, plain and simple.

I believe more than ever now that the BCS is a cartel, a good ol' boy club run by cowards who got stuffed in one too many trash cans back in high school. Wetzel writes about how Harvey Perlman, head of the BS, justified Utah's lockout from the national title game last year by saying they could have played Nebraska's schedule. Utah then went out and beat Alabama. How many games did Nebraska win last year? Another victory for the BCS Robber Barons. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of these clowns get arrested down the road amid a money trail a mile long.

So listen up Florida, listen up Texas, listen up USC, listen up Ohio State, listen up Alabama, listen up all of you: PUT UP OR SHUT UP. GIVE YOUR TEAMS A REAL CHALLENGE, AND STOP BEING LIKE FLOYD MAYWEATHER (see my companion blog on him) AND CLAIMING TO BE THE BEST. IF YOU REALLY ARE, PLAY BOISE, BEAT THEM, AND PROVE IT.

No one wants to play BSU. They are good.

I believe Boise has a self imposed general requirement they will only schedule series with half of the games in Boise.

Boise seats 30,000.
The teams you listed seat 92,000 to 102,000 and have long waiting lists for tickets.

At $50 a ticket, Boise gate receipts would be about $1.5M
This is only little more than the fee the teams you listed pay a mid major to play a road game, of which there are plenty desiring the opportunity.

The gate receipts for the teams you listed would be about $4.6M to $5.1M (given the demand for tickets I would expect the difference in price and receipts to be much more.

Boise provides no reason - respect for the win or otherwise - t schedule them over another team. (Even in the computer polls, the WAC is so low Boise finds itself passed by several teams with more losses).

So to paraphrase your rant:
Listen up Boise fans - your team provides no incentive for these programs to play you in Boise, but there are millions in reason not to. Man up and take the road game. You will get 9 cream puffs later in the season.

Given the WAC is usually ranked at the 8th or 9th conference in terms of strength by the BCS computer polls, cream puff is an accurate description. It is why they are slipping behind TCU and others in the BCS rankings.

Just kidding (kind of), but I hope this answers your question.
In the interim, Boise can enjoy their success and games against those teams who do find it financially viable to play them in Boise.

Actually (and it may not have come off like this) the article said that Boise would go on the road to any stadium and that they offered to waive having the other team come to Boise the next year. Basically, they are begging to go on the road into another team's house, and the other teams won't go for it.

Do you have a link to the article?

This would be a change in their standard.
Is this something that has existed for a while, or did they just recently change?

If it is recent, then sorry but the major programs you listed usually fill their slot for a game with another major 10+ years in advance, most of the mid major slots about 4 years in advance.

I would love to see Boise play TCU, Florida, Bama, Texas, or even Cincy. Boise just got by Louisiana, I'm not saying they are not good but slow down on the "scared" talk. It's just like everyone on here saying Oregon is playing the best football right now and Stanford goes out and urinates on them for an hour, so don't tell me teams are scared to play Boise on or off the smurf turf(Which by the way is awful) right now because there are plenty teams.Well maybe not anyone Choklahoma might get T-Rex arms when asked to play.
