Kind of an odd situation developing in Washington. In an interview this past weekend, Alexander Ovechkin said he would likely miss 4 to 5 more weeks and is advised not to practice. Here is the disputed dialogue.
Q. You???re in good mood. Are you getting better?
OVECHKIN: I am better. But I will miss 4-5 weeks.
Are you serious?
I actually plan on starting practice on the ice next week.
I know that you did skate already.
Yes, but after I did that the doctors told me not to do that yet. And not to have a stick in my hands.
The Capitals came out Sunday night disputing the ???report???. They dispute the ???report??? which is Ovechkin???s words? How is that possible?
???The Washington Capitals dispute the validity of this report,??? the team told ESPN.com???s Pierre LeBrun.
So in essence, are the Washington Capitals disputing Alex Ovechkin? The deal is this, in my opinion.
Caps are playing real well right now. They have gone 2-1-1 without Alex. There is no apparent need to rush Ovechkin back to the ice until fully healthy. The lack of secondary line scoring that dogged the Caps early in the season, has vanished. The Caps scoring has been pretty well scattered throughout the lineup, minus Alexander Semin, Nicklas Backstrom, and Mike Green, none of which have scored since Ovie???s injury. Quite impressive for the Caps. Since Ovechkin???s injury, they have scored 15 goals. Here is how the scoring is scattered.
