Okay, first of all, someone needs to fire the guys who come up with these Astros bobbleheads. "Surfer Ausmus"? "Bulldozing Oswalt"? How many non-Astros fans know that Ausmus is from San Diego and resides there in the offseason, since surfing is one of his hobbies? For that matter, how many non-female Astros fans know that? And I didn't even hear of Drayton's bulldozer "gift" to Roy until half-way through the 2006 season...Maybe they distribute this bobblehead in 2006, the season immediately following the incident, but two years later? The joke's grown old. Berkman and Lee are next... I can't wait for "Twinkie Berkman" and "El Caballo Lee"! Enough with the "themes" already!

Is that a steering wheel on that bulldozer?!?!

So, Roy is apparently over his chest pain. He goes his normal seven strong, striking out 10 Friars in his 200th career start. With this win, Roy is up to 108 for his career. According to MLB.com, no other major league pitcher has more wins since 2001 (Roy's rookie year).

And what is it with these guys and their bobbleheads, anyway? Remember what Ausmus did on his bobblehead night? Now I definitely can't wait to see what kinds of games Lance and Carlos produce on their respective nights! Speaking of Carlos Lee, I suppose we can give him another $1 million from his contract for winning this one. What is he at by now? $7 million earned, $93 million to go?

In other news...Purpura FINALLY deals Wheels! Dan Wheeler gets traded into a bullpen that can't possibly get any worse and the Astros bring in Ty Wiggington to an offense that can't fathomably get any worse. This trade has to make one wonder what else Timmy P has up his sleeve. Wiggington is a 3B-man...the Astros currently have two such men. One must believe either En(d)sberg or Lamb will also be dealt by Tuesday...or, heaven forbid, Loretta! I imagine, whoever it is, TP will be looking to get a pitcher in return.

In further news...I hear Backe's return has a date. Mark your calendars for September 1, people. That's versus the Cubs in Chi-town. Less than one year after surgery? That kid is Superman!
