Like the Go-Gos, Jesus, and Air Jordan, Timmy Couch is attempting to resurrect a career, and life for that matter. Couch, of first overall draft pick fame, plays second fiddle only to the spectacularly dissapointing Ryan Leaf as the poster boy for drafting gaffes. Yet, unlike Leaf, Couch is displaying surprising courage by attempting this comeback. However, Mr. Couch you're two years too late.
How many times has this been seen before, truthfully. It seems like every other week Sportscenter is doing a bit on a dramatic, riches-to-rags (if by rags they mean living in your Arizona ranch without experiencing your grueling sports season)-back to riches again. Yet, too often, this story turns sour momentarily after the dramatic return. Couch does not belong back on an NFL team, this comeback is a feeble attempt to give a little bit of credibility back to his reputation, and I'm sorry to say, Mr. Couch, that you'll be back on your armchair come January, watching the playoffs.
I admit though, Couch will be interesting to watch, clawing his way back to respectability, with the notoriously uninteresting Jacksonville Jaguars. So, I say halfheartedly, Mr. Couch, good luck, and come December, when your team is 8-8 and you're the third stringer, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
