A few minutes ago I received this press release from Floyd Mayweather Jr.:

"Manny Pacquiao is the fighter and every time someone asks him if he wants to fight me, he says it is up to his promoter, he's going to take a vacation, whatever the answer is. I have yet to hear him actually say, 'yes I want to fight Mayweather.' We are the fighters and if one fighter is talking about fighting another fighter, then they should just come out and say it. Manny Pacquiao doesn't say anything directly about fighting me because he might just know it's not a fight he can win."

"He said during an interview he did leading up to his fight that he didn't think I wanted to fight him and that boxing for me was just a business and I wasn't interested in a good fight. But again, he never said during that interview that he would fight me. Why is he talking about what I won't do instead of what he wants to do? Plain and simple, it's because he knows he can't beat me under any circumstances."

"Less than an hour after his fight Saturday night the talk turns back to me. Their whole promotion was just a Mayweather sweepstakes. They know it and anyone could figure that out. Why, because my name kept coming up and I didn't even say anything. Even when he was interviewed on ESPN by Brian Kenny, he was asked about fighting me and what did he say? Not 'yes I want to fight Mayweather or bring it on.' But no! He said 'hum, ahh, well talk to my promoter."

"The world is much more intrigued by the thought of someone fighting me who can beat me.  That is what everyone wants to see and the boxing world is trying to find that guy.  Manny Pacquiao's people have done a good job of creating an image of him to be this unbelievable fighter and now the so-called guy to beat me. But like all the rest, he's not the one."

"There is boxing and then there is me. The rest are just falling in line behind me or are trying to get in line to fight me. And that includes Manny Pacquiao too."

"Tell Manny Pacquiao to be his own man and stop letting everyone, including his loudmouth trainer, talk for him. I am my own boss, speak for myself and tell it like it is. If Manny Pacquiao wants to fight me, all he has to do is step up to the plate and say it himself."

why shuld mayweather chase em', hes right. WHOS THE UNDEFEATED 1 IN THIS CONVERSATION!
wen it comes to being undefeated in any sport, u go to tht person and U challenge THEM!!!. Sounds to me like manny is riding the high horse, plain n simple no boloni. U wanna b the best, then fight the best. manny is very careful bout mentioning money in his interviews, because it may prove to b, tht he knws he has met his match! $MONEY$

The fight should happen and it will be a great fight. Two things though. First, the split of the purse. It's going to be difficult to get them to agree on the matter. Second, and more important, the weight. As regards the Pacman-Cotto fight, I don't understand why the belt was on the line when the catch weight was 145lbs instead of the normal 147lbs. Management ploy to "give" the record seventh title?

November 16, 2009  08:37 PM ET

Mayweather by Unanimous Decision....12 rounds to 0 .....not even close. this will be a repeat of the Marquez-Mayweather fight.....same result. Not an entertaining fight....I wish Mayweather would fight Paul Williams or Shane Mosley

November 16, 2009  09:03 PM ET

why all the talk, floyd? why not shut up, forget about the money, and fight manny? prove your claim that you are the best. manny doesn't go out yapping his mouth off cos he has nothing to prove. you have. i'll bet my left nut that manny will floor "chicken" floyd in the 1st and 2nd rounds. then floyd will just run away for the rest of the fight - as he usually does.

LMAO!!! YOU BETTER TAKE CARE OF YOUR RIGHT ONE THEN! LMAO!!!!

November 16, 2009  09:51 PM ET

I don't even care to see Mayweather fight Pacman...Mayweather is boring to watch...all he does is run, throw a few punches and runs again...That is fine for the amateurs but when I pay my money to see a fight I want to see someone mix it up...come forward and fight...like Pacman does...I do hope the fight is set and I hope Pacman kicks the **** out of Floyd...then he can retire and we will be done with him...

November 16, 2009  10:48 PM ET

the crazy thing is he did the same thing he is accusing Pacquiao of doing when Mosley challenged Mayweather IN HIS FACE. Mayweather beat around the bush

November 16, 2009  11:01 PM ET

Money says he wanted Pacman to call him out, then why did he not respond to Shane when he called him out in front of his face then?!?! Even Floyd does not call Pacman out. Even he does not respond that "Yes" I want to fight Pacquiao when the press ask him that question, he also says his handlers will do the negotiating. This are all excuses!!! Manny has always answered the same way on all his interviews, you will never hear him call challenge anyone directly, he just punishes them on the ring come fight night... And if Floyd fights him, he will kiss the floor of the ring! hahaha...

November 16, 2009  11:09 PM ET

floyd mayweather is a businessman. he only fights if he is sure he will be the winner and earns money... but honestly many people think he lost that fight with dela hoya. bob arum just wa plain brilliant in playing politics and tilted the favor to floyd.. than arum was mad because floyd left him and that is why floyd was chased by the irs... now floyd wants to have a bigger share against pacman, he dreaming man... he does not have a clout right now and is not a crowd drawer. 50/50 is fine and just put a bigger purse to the winner lest say a bonus of another 5 million dollars. that will surely make the fight much more exciting..

floyd does not have the power but he surely does have a great talent. when he gets hit he will run , run ,run and call help... lol. manny pacman pacquiao will gobble him up. 9 rounds floyd ur out...

November 16, 2009  11:25 PM ET

actually manny wants to fight mayweather, he said himself in an interview before the cotto fight "i want to finish mayweather he's just all words" that's what he said.

November 16, 2009  11:32 PM ET

Pac didnt want to act like Mosley and call PBF out cause what did PBF say to Mosley "Ask my manager" Too!!! You did the same thing too you HYPOCRITE!!!! All you want to fight are currently no name boxers so you can preserve your undefeated record!!

November 16, 2009  11:35 PM ET

Mayweather should join the USA track team since he's a great runner! He proved his running skill when he fought Marquez. All he does is jab, counter-punch, run, counter-punch and run more! Maybe he is right that he'll beat Pacquiao and I believe that too. That's because Pacquiao will get frustrated and tired of running after him! The truth is we boxing fans likes fighters, not runners!

If you dont fight elite fighters and your an elite fighter yourself yes you can be undefeated too!! Mayweather avoids any elite fighter! If your suppose to go to that person and challenge them then why wouldnt your boy accept the challenge of Mosley? PBF IS A BIG HYPOCRITE. How can PBF know that Pac met his match when he wont even fight him ? You logic is very stupid!!

All this bologna about a "catch weight." The welterweight UPPER LIMIT is 147 lbs.
and can be fought at or BELOW that weight. Nothing says the fight must be fought at the maximum; but that if 1 boxer is above that weight, it is a loss for him and the title goes with the one who weighs in at or below the maximum allowed.

November 16, 2009  11:41 PM ET

shane mosley...cotto...margarito (before the pads)...why marquez?why did he chose marquez when he came out from retirement?he is wise...a savvy businessman...he chooses his opponents wel...boring?yes but at the end of the day people will remember you as the undefeated boxer (boring or not though he is). for sure he will ask for the moon and the stars just to make sure the fight won't happen...

November 16, 2009  11:44 PM ET

floyd against zab juddah?you be the judge...he runs and runs and he only boxes when he is sure that he can beat the other guy...pacman and floyd must be a good fight...worth the money...i bought floyd vs marquez and pacquiao vs cotto...the difference?bmw vs kia....the former is boring and if possible i would like to have a refund...stupid fight!

November 16, 2009  11:50 PM ET

I would rather Manny say nothing and just beat him up in the end.
Mayweather is the most hateful villain I have ever seen in boxing because of his big mouth and boring fights. And worst, he wins fights.

November 16, 2009  11:55 PM ET

The reason pac man doesnt say it is 2 reasons. 1. He has more class than you and your whole family combined.2. Pac Man lets his fist do the talking not his mouth. Shane Mosley has called you out a number of times even did it right to your face after your last fight but you dont want anything to do with him. In fact have you fought a welterweight yet? Nope, no Cotto no Margarito no Mosley and I'll be suprised if you ever fight PAC MAN. Youll find an exuse im sure. Lets look at the common opponents. Delahoya, you couldnt even finish him off Pac Man destroyed him. Hatton you knocked him out in what 9-10 rounds? Pac Man destroyed him. You did take care of Marquez but you your what 2 weight divisions bigger. Pac Man was moving up in weight when he fought marquez, big difference. Fact is Roach has done a marvelous job with Manny and hes getting better the bigger he gets. Do us all a favor and shut your mouth and sign on the dotted line.

Fairweather, Mayfeather, Weather Girls....whatever his name is....is a joke.

He said Pacqiuao should simply say he wants to fight him and stop hiding behind his promoter and trainer, but he doesn't respond to Mosley calling him out on his PPV. This was after Floyd invited him in the ring.

One of his reasons for hand picking Marquez was because according to him Marquez has an entire nation following him. Fact, since Julio Cesar Chavez, Sr. retired there hasn't been a definitive boxer to reign supreme as the Mexican king. Pacqiuao on the other hand DOES have the ENTIRE Filipino nation following him.

Nowadays, boxing records don't mean too much these days. Floyd is undefeated, but he has a reputation of playing dodgeball with true contenders. The true POUND-FOR-POUND Champion is Manny Pacqiuao.

In an interview with Brian Kenny, Floyd once told him that he doesn't know boxing because he has never fought and therefore shouldn't say anything. Brian Kenny conducted a post-fight interview with Burt Sugar in which Sugar praised Pacqiuao and failed to mention Floyd Chickenfeather. If we can't take Brian Kenny's word on boxing, I guarantee we can take Burt Sugar's word.
