There has been a lot of commotion regarding Mike Vick and his current problems, and a lot of people think that he is not going to play football this year and possibly never again. I myself think that there is just too much going against him to envision seeing him on a football field again. His attempt at smuggling weed thru airport security was just plain dumb, so to say he's not the smartest guy isn't inaccurate, but there is precedent for his worst and best case scenario's.
For his worst case scenario just try thinking of Rae Carruth. Carruth was a tried and found guilty of murder and now is spending his next 18-24 years in a 8x10 cell.
Now remember Ray Lewis' situation to envision his best case scenario. Lewis was able to get out of murder charges that many thought were in fact true. How he did it no one knows but since then he's won a Super Bowl ring and in the same game was named MVP.
Now as a disclaimer I'm not stating that murder and animal cruelty are the same type of crime. They are both heartily distasteful and I cannot condone either.
So although the court of public opinion has pretty much written off Vick as being guilty he still has the chance to salvage his life both on and off the field. But just going off past actions, I don't see him, even if acquitted, being able to make the proper choices to get back on track. I'll be the first to stand up and say "Well done Mike" if he does get it together, but just as it would be if he went back to pass with the game on the line I'm just not seeing him getting it done.
