With all the hype and popularity of the sport of MMA, fighters have adapted to becoming hybrid fighter celebrities with a manager mind set. Whether we like to admit it or not, fighting is not the only thing on an MMA fighters mind any more. Fight promotion and endorsement deals have become just as much of a daily objective as hitting the weight room and sparring. Many unsigned fighters are turning to the internet as a resource for getting their name out there, connecting with fans, and marketing their fights. Some resources I have found many fighters using are sites like: www.twitter.com www.facebook.com www.thenextgreatfighter.com www.myspace.com What are your thoughts on this? Should fighters take the initiative to be their own managers/promoters? or Should the the promoting and managing be left to other entities that will gain from the fighters hard work and success?
