While it wouldn't exactly be appropriate to challenge him to a Throwdown over this, he mentioned OATTA is the "number two tourney on FanNation."
Hardly.
With no disrespect to Elway, he'd be hard-pressed to find a better tournament top to bottom. The Final Four had BPeepers (79-14-5, Port Huron, Mich.), and UofMRules (66-12-6, Naples, Fla.) along with Elway4Prez and Steelercooz to combine for well over 200 wins, and saw two of the better Throwdowns this site has had. BPeepers had to withdraw, and was replaced nicely by BSchwartz07 (41-21-4) Shreveport, La.).
The championship is more of a testament to consistency than anything else. With a slew of talented and knowledgeable participants filling the 16-person field, the second round will likely be just as competitive and heated as the championship. A vote total of around 60 is expected to be cast, and the OATTA encourages active participation from FanNation members.
Votes can be texted in, but it's requested fans go to the FanNation web site instead.
Elway4Prez takes a 42-7-1 record into the championship, and had the closest TD in the tournament against UofMRules in the semifinals. The topic was "Judging by their skills and situation, which rookie besides Oden and Durant has the best chance to win ROY?" They battled to a tie, forcing a run-off vote by OATTA members. A poll was created with the first to 12 being declared the winner.
Steelercooz was slated to take on BPeepers, but after his withdrawl, the offer was extended to [MOH] Coach (Wilmington, N.C., 22-5-2), who declined. BSchwartz07 replaced him, and dropped "If you could choose any player to start an MLB team, besides A-Rod, who would you take?" to Steelercooz.
Anyone interested in joining the OATTA can apply on the team's page, or FanMail Elway4Prez. The second tournament starts soon, and the group is currently taking applications for membership.
