The NBA went through the toughest of times, and although they're still not out of the whole scandal, NBA fans can look forward to the start of the season. This has been the most trade talk in the off-season for some time. For the NBA that is great. I wrote before saying that the NBA is losing interest and won't ever get the ratings that they had before. I stand semi-corrected. Many fans have gone to other sports and just can't watch a bunch of "thugs" play the sport anymore. Others, are looking forward to the start of the season and getting the playoffs under way for some excitement this year.

Now, the West is the West. The last six MVP's have been from the West, including 2 back-to-back from Tim Duncan. The West has a higher scoring mark where teams are regularly scoring 100 points on each other for some entertaining basketball. The East, however, have games where its a struggle to reach 80. Usually, espically in the playoffs, whoever scores 80 first wins. Compared to the West, there is no comparison. Or, atleast we thought.

With recent deals being made (Kevin Garnett to Boston) the East looks primed for the big deals. They are ready for prime-time. But, then the East teams that are "on the bubble" for the playoffs will not get the seeding because of a more talented Eastern Conference.

The West's playoff seedings will look like or be in the area of this:

San Antonio

Dallas

Phoenix

Utah

Then, it gets iffy, Houston probaly is in there somewhere. Along with a possible Golden State, If Jermaine O'Neal goes to L.A. then look for the Lakers in there. Then everybody is always thinking about Oden and Durant, but I just cant see them, in their rookie year, making the playoffs.

The East now has a more pre-knowing seedings

Detroit

Miami

Cleveland

Boston

Chicago

New Jersey

Toronto

Then a toss up for 8 seed...Im not saying Washington because I suspect they'll trade Arenas before the deadline...So, Toss up for #8

Good blog. I'm not so sure about the Arenas trade though. And don't forget that Steve Nash had back-to-back MVPs in there as well. If Washington doesn't trade Gil Zero I think they could squeeze into the 5th or 6th spot.
