Do you like the Bears? Of course you do. But do you really, really love them?
Do the Colts get you going? Definitely. But do they make you completely crazy?
If you answer absolutely yes, to either set of questions, then FanNation wants you to be your team's First Fan. For Super Bowl XLI, FanNation.com has created a new and very cool feature--GameDay. It's like a head-to-head instant message session between two fans with game information and comments. You're gonna love it.
What does all this mean? It means you may be picked to represent your team to the Nation and go up against a fan of those other guys as the game is being played in Miami. While you're watching the game, you'll be able to tell the Nation what you're thinking--about the Game, the announcers, the coverage, even the commercials. If you're up for it; if you want to be one with your team, your TV and your computer on Super Bowl Sunday then there may be a GameDay place for you. Tell us why you should be the First Fan to live blog for your team in a brief email (including your FanNation user name) and send it to superblog@fannation.com We'll read them, make the choices and get the two bloggers set up for Super Bowl Sunday. If you're chosen you'll need four things:
1. Your computer.
2. Your team jones.
3. Your game face.
4. Your attitude.
That's it. And the bloggers will each get their very own FanNation T-shirt. You see, there are no losers at FanNation.
As for the rest of the Nation, since we're all about inclusion we will be inviting all of our members to watch along and comment on the game, the blog posts, the coverage and the commercials. (We've tried it all out and it's very sweet and lots of fun.) We'll be making our choices for the Colts and Bears bloggers on Monday January 29, 2007, so get it going. You only get one chance to be the first and this is it. Remember tell us why you want in with an email to superblog@fannation.com and don't forget your user name.
We've got some other things planned for Super Bowl--a FanNation poll on who's going to win that will reside on the NFL front page; favorite Super Bowl stories from our members, and for Super Bowl weekend we'll also be hearing from our Most Valuable Blogger Josh, who's taking the Chicago Sports from the Northwest blog to Miami. Anybody who asks which team Josh is rooting for may have forfeited his or her chance to be a GameDay blogger.

Al, if you're wondering if including a pic of you in full body paint, naked with a Bears Helmet over your naughty bits will help...or get shown...well...just don't submit the pic.

What about me in my Sayers jersey, cowboy boots, and blue blockers surrounded by an army of ice cold cans of Tecate?

Since history is being made, let's make some more. If a Black wins this contest, I bet that would be a first!

Change that to a Steve Fuller jersey, and you're on. And you've got to show the name on the back of the jersey, so that it's not just a Harbaugh jersey in disguise.
I'm guessing that you meant "If a Black Head Coach wins...", right Dream?

Al, you as a Bears fan should be surrounded by Dos Equis, XX, a particularly good year for Bears fans.
Tecate? that's just NVTS.

Arthur: Tecate is the beer of champions, and my personal favorite during the summer-filled softball days. Not sure what NVTS means, but I will take a guess that you are imply it's not very tasty... which would be false in this beer drinker's opinion.
Josh: have the Bears had a better QB since Harbaugh? Just wondering, b/c I'd love to see more #4's in the stands.

No not a comment on Tecate, which I'm pleased to sip on occasion. It's a reference from a Mel Brooks 'History of the World' ...Latin for nuts.

Wasn't a comment on Harabaugh, just that finding a Steve Fuller jersey would be a LOT harder than finding a Harbaugh jersey...and I wanted to challenge you.
And yeah, I'd have to agree that Harbaugh has been the best Bears QB since McMahon. But Really, that's like talking about good Eddie Murphy movies in the last 10 years...there just hasn't been much there.

Statistically speaking, wasn't Kramer about as good as Harbaugh was as a Bear?
(BTW, Harbaugh is an interesting topic to discuss now considering his Bears/Colts ties...)
Being one of the few Bears fans who's stood behind Rex pretty much all year, I'd also like to (perhaps prematurely) throw his name in the hat too. But that's a work in progress.

Kramer only had 1 good year, Harbaugh had a couple. Plus, I believe it is Harbaugh that actually holds a couple passing records for the Bears.
And yeah, Rex would be premature, although if he adds the Lombardi trophy to his resume, well that would be a step in the right direction.

SeekerOfTruth: I don't know how Grossman merits to be included in this conversation of sub-par QBs. That said, if you do choose to include Grossman than I think Kyle Orton should be included.
If you honestly think Rex would be 15-3 (or whatever he is) as a starter WITHOUT this defense/special teams then you are wrong. Kramer actually had a few good statistical seasons... and Kramer's best year came under Ron Turner (great OC, awful recruiter).
As for Harbaugh, can we agree that he had very little to work with? Not to mention they weren't quite the Monsters of the Midway during his tenure.

Josh - Doing a quick search in the Team recordbook @ http://www.chicagobears.com/docs/2005_records_individual.pdf Kramer's name appears 21 times, Harbaugh only 12.
Al - Harbaugh still had a defense led by Singletary, and Neal Anderson in the backfield. Granted, not the Shufflin Crew, but still not too shabby.
And I guess you stated my point for me: Harbaugh and Kramer were no spectacular QB's by any stretch, but the best since the Punky QB. I think Rex's numbers, sporadic as they have been may measure up to those "subpar" guys at least.

SeekerOfTruth: Your stats are scewed; While Kramer's name appears more, Harbaugh holds more lifetime Bears records. Most of EK's records are from 1995. Hardly substantial argument, although your point is taken.
Harbaugh had nothing. Kramer had more. Grossman has the most to work with. And i don't believe that Grossman's one season as a starter warrants him as one of the Best QBs since McMahon--who in this fan's opinion wasn't even THAT good. This is not to say that he won't eventually be the best QB in Bears history, which wouldn't require too much. The fact remains that the Bears don't have a very strong history @ QB. Certainly not like we do at RB or LB.

First, since I will be "MIA" for the first Super bowl for the Nation, and won't be able to partake in the fun of the Gameday experience...I need 2 things from the rest of the nation...
1. I need a diehard Bears fan to properly represent the Monsters of the Midway....I'll check in after the game to make sure you did a good job.
2. I need a Colts fan to step up to the plate. Listen, you get a break, you won't have me as an "opponent"...unless, well, you're just not man enough to sit down and be honest with yourself and your team while the Bears smack them around in Miami.
