The Padres pitching staff is loaded with young talent, and one of teh most underated members of that staff is Kevin Cameron. In his first major league season, Cameron has a nasty 0.89 ERA through 42 innings, 1.36 WHIP, and 39 strike outs. He's given up only FOUR earned runs this season.
Another guy is Ryan Franklin. Supposed to be a starter at AAA Memphis, Franklin was plugged into the bullpen this spring when Brad Tomphson had some shoulder problems. Now in the majors, he has a 1.86 ERA over 58. Although he only has 26 SOs, he manages to get batters out other ways. And most important, he has given up only 7 walks! That, plus his 46 hits given up, gives him a 0.91 WHIP!
