In my last blog, I detailed many, many facts which fly right in the face of Stew Mandel's little popularity contest about "Who's Now" in college football, about who he thinks the "Kings" are and his illogical and non-fact based reason for thinking so.
But now I'm bringing even more FACTS to combat the dumbness of Mandel, and this is straight from Chip Towers, writer from the Atlanta-Journal Constitution:
Georgia is 11th in all time wins, and only one of 11 teams with 700 wins. Guess who's not on this list? Florida. FSU. Miami.
Mark Richt is only one of six NCAA coaches to win 60 or more games in his first six years... IN ALL OF HISTORY!!!
Mark Richt is also only one of four SEC coaches in all of history to have four straight top-10 seasons.
Two years ago, Georgia was No. 3 in top retail sales (hats, jerseys, etc.) in the WHOLE COUNTRY, and now they're No. 5 with the Gators just passing them this year (granted, the titles have something to do with that). But we're supposed to believe Mandel that NO ONE knows who the Bulldogs are.
Two years ago, Georgia was the most profitable athletic department, by about 24 million dollars over Michigan (the No. 2), and last year they were No. 2. Guess no one cares about Georgia, huh, Mandel?
Last year, according to Alan Thomas, Georgia was NUMBER ONE in licensing rights, this year they are NUMBER TWO! Guess no one wants what Georgia is selling, huh Mandel?
EA Sports has ranked Georgia as an Elite program in their best selling NCAA Football, whom I know EVERYONE plays. Guess they're wrong, too, huh Mandel?
Chip Towers of the AJC then goes on to verify to a word many of my other fact from my other blog, including that while Georgia has two consensus national titles, they could claim more obscure national titles, such as many of the titles that SoCal and Alabama claim as legit.
Once again, Stew Mandel, where are your facts to refute anything I've said, or Chip Towers has reported which blows your little popularity contest out of the water? Before 1990, Florida HAD NO HISTORY. Not one single SEC Title. No tradition at all to speak of. Yet they are Kings to you? Same goes for FSU and Miami.
What Stew Mandel doesn't tell anyone is that he's from Cincinnatti and graduated from Northwestern. So I guess we should all expect him to be a Big 11 homer (putting Penn State on the list was egregious, Mandel). And of course he thinks FSU and Florida has tradition and history enough to be thought of as "Kings." They've been good for about 20 years apiece, so it didn't have to take him any research to actually prove anything, he just remembered it from television from the 1990's.
He also goes to claim that the Dawgs "only" having 2 consensus National Titles is a hit against them, but guess who else has only two consensus titles? Penn State, Florida, and FSU. Once again, Georgia could claim more obscure titles as legit, like SoCal and Alabama do, but UGA has more PRIDE than to claim something we share as our own.
Mandel, you don't have the guts to admit you're wrong. Once again Stew, what matters is "Who Wins" not "Who's Now." And over a century, the Dawgs have been winners. Florida can't say that. FSU and Miami can't say that.
So tell us some more b.s. about how YOU don't think Georgia is a "King." And people who actually have FACTS to back up their opinions will continue to tear you a new rear.
