Another post from April, but it's kinda fun to look back on what was bugging me in the sports world that week. Little did we know that this would be the Summer of the Sports Fan's Discontent...
Hmmm...the NFL Draft is coming up next week. Maybe I can get excited about that.
Yeah, not so much.
The top 4 are going to be (probably in order...) JaMarcus Russell, Calvin Johnson, Brady Quinn, and Adrian Peterson. The Bears don't pick until the 31st slot. Wake me up if Quinn goes first to the Raiders. I'd like to see his temper tantrum.
Hockey playoffs are ongoing, and I have no interest in them other to see if Pittsburgh and Sid the Kid can do something. They'll cover that on SportsCenter.
The basketball playoffs begin shortly, and the Bulls succeeded in sliding from the second seed in the east to the fifth seed because they lost to the Nets and the Cavs won. So they will be in the playoffs for about four games since they are up against the Heat in the first round. Not that I should complain, because basketball in Chicago has sucked for years now. I feel bad for the boys. Once you've seen Jordan play ball, it's tough for any team to live up to the standard that Chicago fans set.
Despite spending over $200 MILLION dollars in the off-season, the **** CUBS are currently 5-9, Sorriano's hurt, and I am seriously thinking about starting to root for the freaking White Sox.
Brian Urlacher just got fined $100,000 (yes, kiddies...that's ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS) for wearing a hat that had the VitaminWater logo on it during the media day before the Super Bowl. That's more than twice what I make in a year. And probably 1/10th of what VitaminWater paid Urlacher to wear the damn hat.
SI.com's columnist Pete McEntegart called out the Card's QB Matt Leinart for driving a fast car fast and dating models, saying Leinart "obviously enjoyed the perks of being an NFL QB". Pete, I generally love your column. I hope the sarcasm was lost on me. Because, let's assess the situation...Leinart's young, rich, great looking, and he's a professional athlete. He is living the dream, man. I'd be disappointed if he didn't drive a fast car fast and date models.
