Daly decided not to play any practice rounds before the PGA Championship.  He said that he would rather be at home playing with his kids.

Now he's a family man. The same man who has been divorced three times.

He's a professional athlete.  Yet, he is in and out of rehab, smokes constantly, has a big gambling problem, and has been accused of domestic violence.  OH no wait, that's typical for an athlete these days. = ].

The word conservative is not in his vocabulary and the word agressive in golf has been redefined by him.
He constantly tries to drive the green of short par-4s which is often what has lead to his shortcomings.

John Daly is one of a kind.  But unlike other pro athletes he isn't superhuman.  He is a lot more like the typical person and that is why he is appealing.  He has problems and admits to them which really attracts people to him.

John Daly, who is sponsored by Hooters, is a nice break from golf; a sport built on class, courtesy, and tradition.

John Daly is everything that a professional athlete/role model is NOT supposed to be but somehow, the American public loves him.

Love him or hate him, you cannot deny, John Daly is one of a kind.
