Gotta like Joba's brief but stellar outings this week.
What say he starts for Clemens in a few days when the Rocket has to atone for his little Bluejay hunting trip? Joba's a starter by trade, of course, and if Joe gives him the next few days off I'm sure he could go a half dozen innings.
What think ye, Bronx Boosters?

Personally, i think it would be a great idea...but if i were Joe Torre, I wouldn't risk it this late in the season with us chasing boston for the division title. We don't want to see another yankee rookie get injured. He's a dominant relief pitcher, so if the yankees make the playoffs ( I pray every day that they will ! ) , expect Joba to be a big impact in the playoffs.

He's only recently been converted to a relief pitcher to find a place for him on the roster. He's always been a starter in the minors, so I don't think there's any more risk of himself getting hurt than there was for Hughes! OK, bad example...
But they'll probably keep using him in relief, then decide if he makes the starting five next season. But you never know...any problem with the starters, and it'll be tempting to put him in the rotation. Wouldn't surprise me.

From what I just read this a.m., they'll do their best to keep him in the bullpen for the rest of the year, then decide if he's the next Rocket or the next Mo.
Either way, not a bad problem to have.
