Just for fun. I was bored at work this morning.
Barring any more significant trades or injuries.
West:
- 1) Dallas
- 2) Phoenix
- 3) San Antonio
- 4) Houston
- 5) Denver
- 6) Utah
- 7) L.A. Lakers
- 8) Memphis
Memphis won 49 games in 05-6 and they added a solid point guard, new coach and a healthy Gasol. Not to mention the Spanish star Navarro and Darko Milicic. Plus, they won't be tanking down the stretch this year.
East:
- 1) Detroit
- 2) Cleveland
- 3) Boston
- 4) Miami
- 5) Chicago
- 6) New Jersey
- 7) Orlando
- 8) Toronto
It pains me to put Boston so high but I think they win their division and I think they win more games than Miami. I think Chicago wins more games than Boston or Miami but they're in the same division as Detroit and Cleveland so they're 5 by default.
Now for fun:
Round 1:
West:
Dallas over Memphis in 5
Phoenix over L.A. in 5
San Antonio over Utah in 6
Houston over Denver in 7
East:
Detroit over Toronto in 6
Cleveland over Orlando in 5
New Jersey over Boston in 7
Chicago over Miami in 6
Round 2:
West:
Dallas over Houston in 6
Phoenix over San Antonio in 6 (This time for sure)
East:
Chicago over Detroit in 7
Cleveland over New Jersey in 6
Conference Finals:
West:
Phoenix over Dallas in 6
East:
Chicago over Cleveland in 7
Finals:
Phoenix over Chicago in 6

Are you serious about these predictions?!? Phoenix wins a championship??!? They really haven't upgraded their team except for an over-the-hill ex-allstar in Grant Hill and then lost their best low-post defender in Kurt Thomas. Unless Amare develops into a all-NBA defender (which I don't really see), the Suns are right back where they were last year minus a good defender and a Steve Nash that is a year older. I really can't remember the last time a team won a championship w/out a defense...They may get past SA but I don't see them going all the way. (Not a Dallas fan by any means but I see them being better than Phoenix)

Report Offensive CommentLike the prediction of the Bulls in the finals, I think its Detroit that takes a step back this year in the Central though....I also can't see Phoenix getting to the title round playing NO DEFENSE......Be aware of Utah in the West not sure they are a one hit wonder like Golden State was, my sleeper in the East is Charlotte....Michael made some good moves this time...

Report Offensive CommentThe Spurs have got to be at the top and at least playing in the conference finals. Also the Bulls got better by adding a couple of big men to a young and improving team. There's no way they take a step back this year. The Pistons are old and will not be the top seed. Ditto with the Celts.

Report Offensive CommentWhat i meant was step back in the regular season seeds.

Report Offensive CommentPhoenix can't possibly win next year. No matter how good they are, even with Grant Hill, the Spurs have a mental edge. My East and West final fours are: West: Spurs, Suns, Rockets, Jazz. East: Bulls, Cavs, Pistons, Celtics. And until somebody has shown they can hang with the Spurs, I think this is the year where they repeat. Drakhorses to win it all are Rockets and Bulls.

Report Offensive Commentthe Raptors will finish higher in the standings then predicted. They are a team of international talent and intrigue as well as a year older playing together

Report Offensive CommentI'm good with the outcomes as predicted. I do think the Suns can pull it off despite whatever "mental edge" fans seem to believe the Spurs possess over the Suns. Last year was tainted; Phoenix has to show the resolve necessary to cut the Spurs' throats and leave them for dead.

Report Offensive CommentYour true colors showed...you`er a Suns fan. Face it the Spurs are in thier heads and there is NO WAY the Suns will get past the Spurs...can you say REPETE? And yes I am a Spur fan!!! GO SPURS GO

Report Offensive CommentI normally wouldn't comment on my own blog but whenever we're privileged enough to have one of the three Spurs fans stop by, we have to take notice.
Yes I can say (and spell) repeat but that doesn't mean it wil happen.

Report Offensive CommentWow.. I can't get over the sheer ignorance and lack of correct grammar that seems to permeate almost every board. It sickens me deeply since I'm an educator.

That's all there is to say.

Report Offensive CommentA healthy Gasol will get them to the playoffs? I agree. Gasol was pretty good last year when he came back. Now he's going to be healthy? Scary.
Leaving the Wiz? I don't know about that. What I do know about is your Finals pick. I agree 100%.
