06:38 PM ET  08.13 | It's over. These are the first few words I thought when I watched a massive Barry Bonds home run leave the park less than a week ago. Interestingly enough, it was one of the few truly impressive homers he's hit all season, and as this one was the record-breaker, I guess that makes the most sense. Still, the feeling of elation that followed wasn't one of joy, that I had just witnessed history. And yes, I was mad, as I believe that the record is now tainted, but we all knew the day was coming. To be short and sweet about it, at least now the sports world can finally talk about something else. And that is why I'm truly happy, the record has been broken.

The Sox are red, but for a different reason than usual. These Boston Red Sox have got to find a way to stop the bleeding fast, or they'll be redder in the face than Shilling's bloody sock. The Yanks are in pursuit, thanks in part to Boston's inability to consistantly win games, and Eric Gagne's collapses in the late innings of the game. If the Sox can't step up now, they'll lose the division yet again, and it will be known as one of the bigger collapses in Sox history. Maybe that curse isn't quite gone....

The Diamondbacks have the best record in the National League. Find me a person who thought they'd be saying that at this point in the year at the beginning of the season. As of now, the D'Backs are 20-9 since the All-Star break, have won every series but one, and hold a three game lead over the Padres in the NL West. The pitching has stepped up, mostly Brandon Webb with his franchise record 33 straight shutout innings (breaking a record he already had) and rookie Justin Upton has shown he's more than ready for the majors. Is this the team that represents the NL in the World Series?

There's a bit of conflict in the NL Central. No one wants to win. The Cubbies and the Brew Crew have been blowing games left and right for the past week, neither gaining any ground on the other because of it. Perhaps the emergence of Rick Ankiel can boost the Cards to the top of the division? Nah.
