This is the offseason of our discontent if you're a Heat fan.
I'm sick of Pat Riley trying to sugar coat the fact that the Heat has been brutally defeated this offseason.
Take Mo Williams for example. Two years ago, when Shaq and the Heat were stock piling players to make a legitimate run, Williams may have overlooked the 20 extra million he could have gotten from the middle of the line Bucks to sign with a title contender. Now? Well, now he takes the money, and sticks with a Bucks team going nowhere soon.
As for the Heat, what is going on?
They let Kapono get away for nothing (now who is going to shoot the three for that team? Penny? Smush? Pallllease!)
They get outbid for Mo Williams
They failed to reinvigorate an old team
They lose Eddie Jones and replace him with 36 year old Penny Hardaway
They watch the Celtics add KG and Allen, the Magic add Lewis, the Knicks add Randolph, and the Heat stand pat as they try to make a blockbuster trade with Golden State for Pietrius, who was terrible in the playoffs. He was great in the regular season, but a no show in the post-season.
Antoine Walker is a shell of the All Star he once was
Shaq is on a major decline, and players are realizing he doesn't have the drawing appeal to lure free agents that he once did.
There are worries about D-Wade's health, coming off of surgery that will sideline him about 6 months (aka: about 8 games into the season).
Dorrel Wright? Whats going on with him?
To think, instead of watching Wright melt on the bench for two years, we could of had our point guard in Jameer Nelson. Got to question some of the draft picks on this team. Like what happened to Wayne Simien last year? Anybody? Anybody?
J-Will is always getting hurt, as is Shaq, and this team is not nearly as deep as it was a few years ago.
Why aren't they trying to resign Posey? At least you know what you're getting from him?
And yes, I understand they're tampering with the luxury tax, the dollar for dollar penalty if they do, but to win a championship in this sport you have to rid yourself of bad contracts (something they have been unable to do), and bring in younger players to replace your veterans (they have no one really ready). In those areas Miami has failed.
Pat Riley there is still much work to be done. The window is closing, and you're not doing much about it.
