If you follow college basketball you are probably aware of the debate Oden Vs. Durant for who should be selected number 1 in the nba draft. Though most people feel it should be Oden i feel its quite the opposite. Many buckeye fans reading this are probably shaking their heads and saying that a good bigman is hard to find. Does the name Darko Milicic ring a bell? He was the 2nd pick in the 2003 nba draft behind lebron james and ahead of Carmelo Anthony. Carmelo has 300 more points in 36 games  so far this season then Darko does his entire career. Speaking metaphorically Durant is Carmelo and Oden could potentially be Milicic. Durant has 10 more ppg and slightly more rebounds than Durant does. Durant is 6-11 and can shoot 3pointers like someone 5 or 6 inches shorter(he has a 38% 3 point percentage). He has an 80% free throw percentage while Oden has a 62%. No freshman has ever won the player of the year award or averaged 25 ppg and 10 rpg Durant is on track to do both. In one game Durant scored 37 points and grabbed 23 rebounds. Still want Oden? Yeah i didnt think so.

If I was a NBA GM, I would have Durant graded over Oden as well, but not by much. And comparisons to Millic are really silly at this stage. Oden has been Playing against great competition his whole life, while Darki barely played on his Euro team. Plus, he's been playing most of this season with a bum right wrist...which is his strong hand. Add onto that the fact that he's a legit 7' Center, which is one of the hardest things to find...and you'll be hard pressed to find much difference between these guys in terms of value. It will instead come down to who has the top pick and what they need...I don't think a team can go wrong with either of these guys.

You can't put Oden in the same bucket as Darko. Oden comes as a fairly complete package, as does Durant. There's a ton of great young talent in the colleges this year. That's going to be some draft this June.

The way I see it, Oden is a "right now" addition to any team next year. Durant doesn't quite have the body yet. He's 6'9" but hasn't really gained any weight since high school. When he gains 20 lbs, he'll be worthy of the #1 pick. Oden will have a bigger effect on games next year, although Durant, if he comes out, will put up more impressive numbers. I know it's a lofty comparison, but Oden will have a little bit of a Shaq effect on the game, whereas Durant will just score and play well but won't dictate an entire game.

I'm a huge OSU Fan (particuarly bball) and I believe Durant should probably be the #1 pick. Nothing like him has ever been seen. We've seen Oden in the form of Patrick Ewing before. That said, your comparison between Oden and Darko actually made me vomit on my laptop. And oh yea, can we mention he's shooting FT's left handed. Not sure if you heard or not.
