Jon Lester wasn't the only member of the Red Sox that came back yesterday against the Devil Rays. But, Mike Lowell, Jason Varitek and Coco Crisp helped the Red Sox comeback from a 1-0 deficit with one out and nobody on base. Mike Lowell came up and drove a 2-0 pitch up and over the green monster to tie the game. When the ball landed it seemed as if it was a playoff game in 2004. As if we're still alive. With 2 outs now Jason Varitek battled and ground rule doubled down Pesky's pole. If he hooked the ball to the right a little he could've won the game or tripled. But, it didn't matter for Coco Crisp as he singled over the second baseman's head. Eric Gagne earned himself his first Red Sox win. Jon Lester who would've been the Red Sox tough luck loser giving up a sac fly to lose the game was relieved by his Red Sox teamates.
