The Captain aka Steve Yzerman.. simply put, this can't even be argued. How long he served as Captain, how young he was when he became the Captain, the influence he has on Detroit, the Red Wings, the NHL, and Team Canada.... no wonder why his name has changed to The Captain.

bobby clarke- his flyers were more than a hockey team. they were family. clarke ALWAYS gave everything. he led by example, being a diabetic made things even harder. he wasnt the most gifted athelete, even though he was arguably the best passer of his time, his top level of play wore off on all of team mates. off the the ice his leadership in the front office was always at top level. yes there was better atheletes, better executives, but rolled up into one, you cant find a better captain and or leader than bobby clarke.

I agree. Yzerman was a great leader who changed the way he played the game for the better of his team. I believe he was the longest riegning caption, too. He was classy and quiet, and the face of Detroit sports for a long time.
