I think I read a blog about a week ago about the need to blow up a franchise.  I think Josh wrote it and it was about the Detroit Lions.  I remember watching the Lions with Barry Sanders, Herman Moore, Scott Mitchell, and Brett Perriman.  That was a fun team to watch, and also great players to have for your fantasy leagues that season.  Well that blog got me thinking, yes the Lions have become bad, but there are other franchises in sports that deserve to be blown up.  Some deserve to be blown up and never rebuilt, others however atleast deserve to be rebuilt, but def. should be blown up.  So I have come up with 6 franchises that I believe deserve to be bombed with some C-4 and some acme TNT, Wyle E Coyote style.

1.  The Portland Trailblazers

This team had so much potential.  They were knocking on the NBA championship's door in 1999 and should have been there in 2000, but in game 7 against the Lakers they didn't score a point for like 8 minutes.  After that season the convicts started ruling the asylum.  Pippen had a bad attitude, Rasheed was a problem, the team just lost all connections with the city of Portland.  Damon Stoudamire still has attitude issues.  They tried to trade the bad apples, but it still seems as everyone has been infected with this attitude.  Zach Ranolph is good, but I doubt anyone can win a title with just him.  The Rose Garden is dead and it's time to blow this team up.

2.  The Vancouver/Memphis Grizzlies

What do you expect when the franchises first pick was Bryan "BIG COUNTRY" Reeves.  This team has had a lot of lottery picks and has done virtually nothing with them.  Pau Gasol wants out now.  They traded Drew Gooden in his first season.  They traded Bibby because he hated playing for this franchise.  The talent has been there, but it never works at the same time.  Jerry West hasn't even been able to fix this franchise.  Memphis isn't a great basketball city, especially NBA.  This team should be blown up, but the franchise can move again to either Vegas or Oklahoma City for rebuilding.

3.  The Kansas City Royals

They had some great teams in the mid 80's.  George Brett, Danny Tartabul, Bo Jackson, Brett Saberhagen, and Kevin Appier.  The Royals have always had talent, that has never been questioned.  What has been questioned is their willingness to keep the talent and not be a farm system for the rest of MLB.  This team never spends money.  They need blown up, given to new ownership.  Keep the waterfall in the stadium though.  It has always been very unique.

4.  The Oakland Raiders

Many may debate this, but seriously look at their new coach.  Will this guy be there more then 3 seasons.  Al Davis never lets any player become bigger then the Raiders.  Jon Gruden was very good for them.  Although he didn't directly coach the team, he's the reason they made it to the Super Bowl that season.  He is also the reason they got their butts handed to them.  Randy Moss was a horrible pick up, Aaron Brooks was even worse.  Is this franchise trying to get better???  They can't decide what city they want to play in either.  Oakland, LA, Oakland.  Al Davis is the one owner that will try to move his team to Vegas.  Blow this one up, rebuild them in Oakland without Al Davis or any member of his family.

5.  The Tampa Bay Devil Rays

Have they ever not finished in dead last in the AL East? Will they ever have a chance at a Wild Card since they play in the same division as the Yankees and the Red Sox?  Honestly, probably not.  They had Jose Canseco once and Greg Vaughn.  Pitching is bad, hitting seems worse, and are there Devil Ray fans?  It seem like there aren't.  This was a very bad expansion idea.  Rocco Baldelli can become a free agent, then blow them up and please don't rebuild.  Burn all apparell too!

6.  The Entire WNBA

This may catch some heat.  This idea meant well, but much like the XFL it sucks.  There have been a handful of dunks, that's about the best part.  The And 1 guys are way more exciting then the WNBA.  This league only still exists because of David Stern.  Please blow it up, Vince McMahon got the hint after only one season, why can't the WNBA?
