White Sox 08' Roster
I dont believe the White Sox will do a full rebuilding next year knowing that KW seems to like all the Sox talent he has so far, so a few tweaks are possible. I don't think KW can make any big FA splashes for a couple of more years when most of the big money contracts are over. Most likely the Sox are going to go after a CF and/or SS though Free Agentcy. So looking at the soon to be FA's there are possiblitys of getting Hunter, Rowand, or Cameron. If all falls though or money is not there most likely Ozzie and Kenny will go with Owens as there CF and lead off. As for SS they can go numerous ways. They can sign either Eckstein or Izturis from Free Agency or make a trade for Khalil Greene or Brent Lillibridge. Most likely Jon Garland would be included in thoughs deal so that the Sox can free up some payroll. Here are what the Sox lineups could possibly look like:
Hitting:
CF Owens/Hunter/Rowand
SS Lillibridge/Eckstein/Greene/Cabrera/Uribe(but not 2nd in batting order)
DH Thome
1B Konerko
RF Dye
C Pierzynski
3B Fields/Crede
LF Sweeney/Ozuna/Fields
2B Richar(if they dont Acquire anyone in trade)
Pitching:
1.)Buerhle
2.)Vasquez
3.)Garland/Contresas
4.)Danks
5.)Gio/Masset/Floyd/Broadway
Bullpen:
Closer/Jenks
SU/Macdougal
MRP/Wasserman/Logan/Sisco
MRP/Thornton/Linebrink
MRP/Trade/FA/Minor League
LRP/Bukvich/Trade
LRP/Masset/Trade/FA

There isnt really an accurate way to predict that. People do or dont go into FA, people retire (DYE), and people are traded. **** like that makes it impossible to predict it. An A+ for effort tho.

Report Offensive CommentLike Longhorn said, A+ for effort, but I don't know how you can predict signings. The best you can do is to look at the teams outlook within their own system.

Report Offensive CommentYea I know what you mean by you can't predict signings but I was listing the players or where they can fill there need at by rumors there were and people the Sox were one time interested in at some point this year.

Report Offensive CommentYea its really unfortunate that the Sox went into so bad of a slump but I'm figuring the season is over and I'll just wait for next year and in the mean time GO BLUE!!!!!!!

Report Offensive CommentYou are right in that it is very hard to predict....especially what Williams is going to be allowed to do. I am hoping that Reinsdorf will allow Williams to spend this offseason, because we all can see the results of trimming the payroll. It would be nice if more of the position prospects would show they belong in the majors.

Report Offensive Comment"people retire (DYE)"
Dye isn't retiring, he just signed a 2-year contract extension.

Report Offensive CommentThe Sox CAN and WILL be players in F.A. I expect Garland is gone for sure and Contreras is gone if they can find a taker. IF they are able to dump those two contracts it opens up $22mil in payroll for next year.
No question they will be going after a CF in F.A. If they are unable to sign Hunter as a F.A. they will settle for Rowand. I'll be surprised if one of those two isn't signed. If not they probably live with Owens as the regular CF and spend the money elsewhere. A trade for Griffey is possible, but I doubt it at this point because he's not the fielder he used to be.
SS if there is something out there better than Uribe. LF if Crede is uncertain or Fields just can't play the position, in which case they'll trade Crede, keep Fields at 3B, and probably move Owens to left. Pods is history.
KW will be looking to upgrade the BP with the Garland/Contreras trades. And I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they make a run at Tejada who wants out of Baltimore again and is a player Williams has tried to get several times already . I also wouldn't be surprised if they trade Konerko provided they can get equal value back because Pauly gains 10/5 no trade status early in the '08 season. In that case they move Dye to 1st and bring in Sweeny who looks to be ready.
