There seems to be a torrential flood of discussion, emotion and racial divide on the Michael Vick guilty plea. While I am very emotional about what happened, I don't see this as a racial issue. I am sickened that any human being thinks so little of the animals lives that they can lower themselves to abusing the dogs the way they did. Any reasonable person must know that the dogs that didn't perform up to par (already in bad shape from their dogfight), will feel and suffer the full extent of the inhumane physical abuse they received up to and until their deaths. I guess Michael though he could do anything he wanted with impunity.
With that aside, Michael Vick obviously chose the wrong friends. Friends who would lead someone with so much talent and promise down the path to personal disaster. And then, when the heat was turned up on them, they rolled over on him to lessen their prison sentences. Ultimatey, Michael's choice of friends painted him into a corner.
Now Michael Vick is making an appology for his role in all of this, however there is a credibility issue because of his earlier statements of innocence. When the scandal broke way back when, that was the time for contrition. It would've made him look more sincere and believable. Now with prison time around the corner and his NFL career in jeopardy, he needn't look anywhere but in the mirror. And by the way, I'm sure John Q. Public would be dealt far worse consequences as the proprieter of the notorious "Bad Newz Kennels."
Michael, good luck in prison.
