"we" and "us" when talking sports teams | xxx84xxx's Blog

Ok I know this may surprise some people, that talk about "their" team, like they play on it and speak of the player by first name like they know them. This is one thing that really irks me. I played college ball, and I to this day dont say we about the team I played for. I speak of we when I talk about my team that I played on, but not the current team, its not "my" team anymore. All those people havent earned the right to say "we", they havent gone through the winter workouts, the 5 a.m.'s, spring ball, study tables, films, summer workouts, hell month or two-a-days! All they do is complain and moan when things go bad about " we just wont throw the ball to johnny enough". So this goes out to you in the C deck drinkin from your flask or grilling by the stadium talkin about the qb like he's your brother...STOP IT he doesnt know you or care to, he plays for his team not you, so cut it out! You dont have the right, the band and the cheerleaders have more of a right than you do. So you paid for the ticket or went to that school, big deal, you still never played or worked for that priviledge to say "we" or "us"!

I was saying you seem to want to deprive people of their right to have fun.They dont do it to agravate you.What do you do at a Superbowl party ?

No its nothin that serious, I dont go out of my way, hell I never really say anything, just bothers me on occasion when idiots say stuff like that. I understand loving "your" team trust me. I just dont like it when people are wierd about it. thanks for the post though...
