The Phillies down 3-0 rallied back to take game 1 from the Dodgers 5-4 last night. I thought that Kyle Kendrick really showed poise after giving up 2 runs in the 1st and then 1 in the 2nd and falling behind 3-0 hung tough for the win. It really shows that the Phillies offense can outright win games despite so-so pitching.
Two plays stuck out last night that winning teams make. In the 3rd with his team already up 3-0 and one out Juan Pierre tried to stretch his double into a triple and before you can say Werth to Iguchi to Dobbs Pierre was thrown out at 3rd. In the 4tf with two outs Dodger catcher Russell Martin tried to go from 1st tot 3rd and was thrown out by Werth.
The other good news is that the Phillies are now tied for the Wild Card.
The bad news is that Cole Hamels is going to miss two-three weeks with a elbow strain.Durbin is going to start tonight.
Chase Utley will probably do a rehab this weekend and could return for the Mets series next week.
Question to Dodgers Manager: When Furcal got on to start the game why did you have the second batter Juan Pierre sacrifice him to 2nd? Don't understand, please help me.
