The first round matchups are Pittsburgh versus California and Michigan versus Louisville
Here are the Round 1 scores.
Cal-31, Pitt-17-Cal had JJ Arrington who finished 6th in all-purpose yards. Pittsburgh would not even have a player drafted in the 2005 draft.
Louisville-28, Michigan, 21-Michigan was led by Braylon Edwards, but they were starting freshman QB Chad Henne at quarterback. Louisville had Stefan LeFors who led the league in passing.
Here are the Round 2 matchups
Fiesta-Louisville v. USC
Orange-Oklahoma v. Cal
Capitol One-Auburn v. Virginia Tech
Cotton-Utah v. Texas
Here are the scores.
USC-41, Louisville 20: Louisville had a powerful offense, but can you argue with Reggie Bush, Matt Lienart, LenDale White, Mike Williams, Dwayne Jarrett, Steve Smith, Winston Justice, Dominique Byrd, and company on the Trojan offense? Not to mention Lofa Tatupu, Shaun Cody, and Mike Patterson on defense.
Oklahoma 31, Cal, 30: This game would be closer than expected. Cal had the Aaron Rodgers-JJ Arrington duo, but Jason White to Mark Clayton would be too hard to stop for the Cal defense.
Auburn 38, Virginia Tech 21: Auburn was dominate in the SEC, which is a very tough challenge. It is managable, however, when you have Carnell Williams, Ronnie Brown, Jason Campbell, and Carlos Rodgers, all first round picks.
Utah 28, Texas 27-This would turn out to be the game of the century. Alex Smith v. Vince Young. Mid major v. Powerhouse. Urban Meyer v. Mack Brown. A midmajor would upset a Big XII team by one. Sound familiar?
SEMIS!
Rose-USC v. Utah
Sugar- Oklahoma v. Auburn
USC-31, Utah, 17: USC has a great offense and defense. They were supposedly the best team in the nation by far, but they have a challenge in the Championship game.
Auburn-27, Oklahoma-13: The SEC defense always seems to win games. Auburn had a great offense also. The ultimate two headed monster was given holes by a true monster. Marcus McNeill.
The championship game will feature teams who have sent numerous players to the pros since 2004. Matt Lienart, Reggie Bush, LenDale White, Mike Williams, Dwayne Jarrett, Steve Smith, Shaun Cody, Jason Campbell, Ronnie Brown, Caddilac Williams, Marcus McNeill, Winston Justice, Dominique Byrd, Lofa Tatupu, Darnell Bing, Matt Cassell, Devin Armashodu, Carlos Rodgers, Ryan Kalil, and Ben Grubbs all played in this game. Not to mention the future pros like Sam Baker and Quentin Groves also played. The score of this game was...
Auburn-31, USC-28 Game MVP-Caddilac Williams, Auburn
