First of all, I'm in a pretty bad mood today, so get ready!

I've noticed a new TD thing on FanNation, in-game TDs. An in-game TD is when two users make a throwdown, about a game that is going on at the time. One user picks one side, the other takes the opposite. They wait for a result, and whoever was wrong forfeits the TD.

Here's why I hate these TD's: Besides the picking, these take NO skill at all. No need to argue, no need for stats, no need for ANYTHING! All that needs to happen is pick a side, and wait. Then what happens is the throwdowners make ONE sentence arguements like "The game starts at 7:00 EST." or "The Braves will definitely win!" This sorta **** is taking up the "In Progess" page and has takes no sports knowledge whatsoever. Do you really want to be in a three sentence throwdown? It's not even a throwdown! A throwdown is where you vote on a OPINOIN, not a FACT!!!!

Also, let's say the loser doesn't want to harm their TD record, and decides to just not forfeit? What happens next is TDs of already played games are littering the throwdown page and is not even arguable anymore. Most of the time, the reason why the challenger creates the TD is for an easy win, because they think the matchup favors a specific team. There's really no point in voting anymore in this TD, since even if you vote to one side it'll be ENTIRELY discounted after the loser forfeits.

So, I make a plea to everyone making these in-game TDs. PLEASE STOP IT FOR THE GOOD OF FANNATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Throwdowns are for arguing sports, not betting on games! But for people who still like the in-game TD, here's an idea that's a bit different that still might, just might, work: You create the TD for the game a couple days before the game starts, so it's all opinion and you can actually argue, not make dumb statements. Then by the time the TD is over, the game starts, and you can see who really did the best!

You're easily irritated.

thank you eagles hater. These in game TDs are rediculous. This site is for arguing sports, lets stick to that.

August 24, 2007  04:49 PM ET

i actually like them. i havent been in oen but i like them.

August 24, 2007  04:52 PM ET

If you people don't like them don't do them. You don't have to make a damn blog to tell us to stop. A lot of people like doing them. If you're not involved, stay not involved. You wasted your time doing this piece of **** so just stay the hell out of the throwdowns. It doesn't concern you. Plus you get pissed very easily.

August 24, 2007  04:53 PM ET

Thank you longhorn_lifer, a lot of people like them. It isn't like those are the only throwdowns happening. There are others going on also.

August 24, 2007  04:54 PM ET

Yeah, but they seriously take NO skill at all except picking a game. It's 50-50 you'll win or lose. Basically a coin flip.

August 24, 2007  04:59 PM ET

I don't see the problem. It's not like throwdown wins mean anything anyhow.

How much skill do you really need to win a regular throwdown?

August 24, 2007  05:02 PM ET

I'll tell you why i like them. There is no way of somebody cheating votes don't matter. It is so frustrating to go up against a cheater trust me i went up against two main ones and an alledged one. Plus it does make the game more interesting to watch. Take my TD's for example i usually take the pirates, and i watch many pirate games. We are 17 games under .500 i don't get much excitment from the games, but if you do an in game td it makes it more interesting. They do take skill i never take one unless i know the pitching matchups like yesterday i took the blue jays over the angels because ervin santana was on the mound. I only in game td the bucs when tom gorzo piches or their is a favorable match-up. Today snell is pitching and since the break hes been horrid so im not in gaming it.

That little bit is called skill? You should know that like 1+1!

August 24, 2007  05:06 PM ET

I'm just saying they are fun and i rarely take the favored team tonight i have the giants over brewers

August 24, 2007  05:08 PM ET

I am allowed to make in-game TDs. My skill affects the game, as I play in the NFL. But I will only challenge NFL players....

just kidding

August 24, 2007  05:08 PM ET

I can make them because I am in the NFL and my skills affect the outcome of games. But I may only challenge other NFL players. Fanmail me if you are interested.

just lol

I have an idea for them:

As arguments (after picking teams) beginning arguing why your team should win. Example:

"In Game TD: Redskins vs. Cowboys"

U#1: I'll take the Redskins. I think the 'Skins will win because they have a dominate offensive line that ranked 4th in rushing offense and allowed only 19 sacks which also ranked in the top five. They have TWO great running backs in Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts. Two burners in Santana Moss on the outside and Antwaan Randle El in the slot. In Branden Lloyd they have a bigger guy than El and Moss who is a chains mover. Campbell has bonded well with Lloyd and he should put up MUCH bigger numbers than last season. The defense is healthy and they added LaRon Landry in the draft who will team with heavy hitter Sean Taylor to give WRs nightmares of going over the middle."

U#2: "So, since you took the 'Skins, I'll grab the 'Boys. The Cowboys will win this game because they have a devastating pass rush from Anthony Spencer, Greg Ellis, Demarcus Ware, and company. They also have a blitz heavy scheme so they will torture QBs all game long. They have a VERY underrated commodity in Terence Newman who is easily a top five corner even without the INTs. They ALSO have a big hitter in Roy Williams, who, with the addition of Ken Hamlin, won't have to play as much coverage and can do what he does best: stuff the run."

Get my point?

You call this The Best Blog on FanNation. That's funny. If people want to forfeit a throwdown, let 'em. You don't have to do it, so Just Shut Up.

August 24, 2007  05:12 PM ET

I don't mind them either. I think it is a good idea.

See, that way FanNation mods won't delete them (as I heard they were doing) and you won't have people like Eagle Lover on your ****.
