What a week for football fans! The Pete Carroll & Lane Kiffin stories are just another proof that there is no loyalty in this sport. But more than that the Trojans hired a guy who only spent one year at a major program Tennessee. Obviously this guy will go anywhere at any time. If USC has a good year, Kiffin will be offered an NFL job & HE WILL BOLT. Remember this guy once worked for Al Davis who called him every name in the book when he fired him. (Never mind that the Raiders are their own soap opera).
Kiffin was trying to get other jobs while in Oakland. So was Jon Gruden. Maybe if that was a decent job, the coaches wouldn't do that. But Kiffin did it to a suppossedly great program in Tennesee, so we know what kind of a person he is.
Pete Carroll. Where do I begin. Seattle? He gets offered pro jobs every year after the bowls are over. Why take this job? He won't win a Super Bowl. The team has gone backwards the last few years. (If your team was a top team & now it's below the Cardinals, something has gone VERRRY wrong). So clearly despite his protests, it's obvious that he is getting out before USC gets severely penalized by the NCAA. Funny how both of these guys are leaving their former programs with possible sanctions coming their way.
Is this the way college athletics has to be? Cheat until you get caught. USC's issues go back to the Reggie Bush nonsense. Paid cars, etc, etc, etc. The Vols also have issues & it's a good thing they don't play the Trojans or Kiffin might need protection. Check out Indiana. While Bob Knight was there no problems, other than that he acts like a thug. But he was clean. Now that program gets investigated. My take-too much money to be made, so universities look the other way.
