Sam Dalembert, the Phil 76ers 2001 first round draft pick, was born and raised in Haiti until the age of 14, when he moved to Montreal. He is desperatly trying to get on a plane to his native country to help his people. He is considered a "loyal Haitian son." His charity, the Samuel Dalembert Foundation, had a plot of land andwas in works to begin construction on a school in to help the determained children attend classes, create art and play sports.
This is a good story, I encourage everyone who can, to donate to the Red Cross. Secretary Hillary Clinton, in conjunction with the Red Corss, have set up a line that you can text "HAITI" to 90999 and $10 will automactically be given to the Red Cross and charged to your cell phone bill. Also for missing U.S. citizens family memebers, call 1-888-407-4747.
